I have just renewed my multi-trip insurance with the Post Office and was informed that Turkey was not now included in their cover.Their explanation was that it wasn't an EU country, although I was assured that the TRNC is covered.

I don't know if this applies to other multi-trip insurances but it might be worth checking if a trip to the mainland is planned whilst on holiday.

offtheradar, which policy have you got with the Post Office? I've not hear of one that only covers EU countries in Europe, e.g. not Switzerland!

It's Annual Multi Trip Cover with Post Office Travel Insurance giving area of travel as A2 Europe which I've had for a few years and have never been told about this restriction before, only when I telephoned them this afternoon to renew and Turkey was the only country mentioned.

I did ask about transfering flights in Turkey to fly onto the TRNC and she said that it was ok provided I did not leave the airside part of the airport.

did you get a policy document?

I never heard of this, but some of the very basic policies require you to have an eu medical

card and so there are some that exclude north cyprus because of this

saga does a pretty comprehensive policy, 45-days' maximum and a very small excess, plus

there is good cover for missed departures
