Check with BRS. I was told over 60s do not need to complete temporary residency.

Msg 4, this has been said on a number of occasions, even my other half was told it was not necessary by the Metehan crossing on his next birthday, age 60......but as it has been pointed out so many times, to be able to drive here whilst you are living here, it is a requirement to hold a NC driving licence, this as far as I am aware, can only be obtained if you have temporary residence, ie not on a 90 day visa.

We have just completed our first application for temp. residency at the police station, next stop Nicosia. They were quite aware that I will be 65 next March 2012. There was NO MENTION of me NOT having to submit an application, so just just them what they want..........................................................the money!!!!!!!!!!

The above should have read, ' so just give them what they want......................................the money!!!!!!!!! Now I am sure the Dutch Man (you all know who I am referring to) will have something to see about that incorrect wording, being the forum grammar police.

I was advised by a TC that my TRNC DL can be renewed by showing my Passport to prove I am over 60. He had spoken to an Immigration Officer in Girne on my behalf.

So, if you are under 60, you need the same as Deniz1 says in message 2 with the addition of needing to have a blood test? İs a copy of passport photo page and also copy of residency page required as previously? When İ went for blood test at Talat Lab. last year, because my TB childhood vaccination scar was clearly visible, no TB skin test was performed. İs this still the case? My husband's scar could not be seen so they did a test on him! Finally, how far in advance of expiry of current residency can renewal be applied for? İ believe it used to be 30 days Many thanks Padisha

I went for my renewal today (6th year) - they took a chest xray as well as blood test. You need copies of photo and residency page of passport. Have to say that the nurse who took my blood did a great job as I always have problems. Anyone know which room you pick your tests up from in the Girne State hospital?

Mrs Snakes - you go to the police station just like you always did, and they give you a slip for the hospital after checking your paperwork is in order. The hospital itself only takes your passport then gives it back to you when they tell you what lab (or the hospital itself - they take it in turns) to go to for your blood test. Or at least that's how it was in November when I did mine.

Thank you for replies. İt still seems very hit and miss - some people have TB skin tests and others have chest x-rays. Are there any rules at all or are there other agendas? (agendae?) İs it possible for this thread to be made into a sticky so that updates can be made as and when? This is an ongoing situation that seems to be subject to change and affects an awful lot of people who may be dis-advantaged without realising it. Any updates as regards obtaining a new DL without having Residency, if over 60, etc etc and other associated considerations would also be very welcome. Padisha

The passport copies are for the police though they do copy your passport when you pay at the hospital. You dont actually pay in room 307 - it is the payment area next to the Cafe downstairs. Take a ticket from the machine and wait your turn. You can write your name address and phone number and the back of the slip to speed the process a little
