Firstly, get the best Internet provider that you can, others on the board are better placed than I to advise on this

Secondly, sign up for a UK based VPN, Just google 'VPN' for a wide range to choose from

Third, connect to the Internet through your VPN using your TRNC Internet connection, then go to http://www.tvcatchup.com and watch pretty much any UK channel you want.

I've done this in the TRNC and it works perfectly.

Hello,

Firstly, our multimax prices are 60TL for 2Mbits, 80TL for 4Mbits and 150TL for 10Mbits. There is a one time activation fee 50TL if you choose to pay monthly or, which is waived if you pay yearly and you get an additional 3 months free.

Secondly, you do NOT need a VPN with multimax if you are watching BBC or ITV. For every other channel (channel 4, channel 5, sky etc), multimax also offers a VPN service FREE of charge, so you do NOT have to pay any money to anybody else.

We can be reached at 0392 4446629(customer support), 0548 870 0226(Girne office), info@multimaxcyprus.com, http://www.mmcyp.com

Have a nice year!

I use a VPN to watch the UK. iplayers, especially BBC. However I do do find that during UK. peak viewing time in the evening from say 18.00 to 23.00 UK. time, the performance is poor with repeated streaming & losing the connection.

Best times are early morning here....... before UK. has woken up & early hours of the morning here after 1am when the UK. has gone to bed.

In theory I have a 4mb download & 1mb upload, but I don't always get that.

I wouldn't describe using a VPN as a substitute for watching UK. TV. It's better than nothing but a complete frustrating pain at times. I tend to download anything I really want to enjoy rather than watch on an iplayer.

@scruff, I would say there are more than a few problems with what you are claiming.

I have been streaming both BBC3 and ITV1 simultaneously with my 4Mbit connection since 21:00 and I am not getting any buffers at all with any of them.

You need to make sure its not your internet connection thats slowing down at those times that you mention.

You can do a speedtest at http://www.speedtest.net (try with different Turkish and UK servers) or try it on our website http://www.mmcyp.com (clich logo at left middle).

It is important to diagnose and figure out where exactly problems lie before accepting thats the best it can get...

Hello Kemal,

Do you have any internet services to offer those of us that own holiday homes and therefore want a periodic service only whilst we are there.

re msg 6, we do allow our customers to freeze their accounts for up to 6months in a year (minimum 1 month at a time). If you are here for shorter periods of time, 3g dongle is currently a more viable option.

We are working on new ideas all the time though, so keep watching us for future products

msg.5.

Thanks for your comments Kemal. You could very well be right. I am not an expert, but when I have done speedtests at speedtest.net they seem to be within the accepted range that BBC i player suggests you need.

I have no doubt that our internet speeds are better after midnight when, without exception, I am able to use the BBC iplayer without problems. ITV player is never good.

I am with Nethouse like looseboots & in the Catalkoy area like snakes. I am suppose to get 4mbs download & 1 mbs upload but to be honest speeds are very inconsistent. However unbeknown to ourselves when we renewed our subscription in 07/2011 to take effect from 09/2011, we were put on the ecopaket which I now understand doesn't guarantee anything.

This was not what we wanted but we shall live with it until the end of this year & then give you a try. However, it will only be on a monthly basis. No more going for the longer periods, just to save a few TL for me, I am afraid. I have been caught before.

We had Multimax fitted yesterday and are very pleased. Have been watching BBC and ITV with no problems at all.
