Could this help or be the grounds for unification of this wonderfull Island

In 1990 samples from 116 Turkish Cypriot, 303 Greek Cypriot, 235 mainland turks and 174 mainland greeks were tested in the US by professor Huisman.

Genetic illness and DNA expert Dr. Erol Baysal with the assistance of english, turkish, cypriot and greek experts conducted the work, and found that the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot DNA was very close.

Even though the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot see the mainland as there genetic source they are very far apart and also very different and that certain codes in the DNA which can only be found in cypriots was conclusive proof that Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot were the only ones that have this DNA.

Even though it was always assumed that Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot were close this showed they were much closer than could be anticipated.

It will probably have made not a scrap of difference in the grand scheme of things.

They did some research in "England" and discovered that the Romans, Vikings, Angles, Saxons, Normans(who were Vikings anyway) etc. etc. etc had no impact on the essential DNA of the natives.

Harlequin. I'm not so sure about that. Wikpedia describes the Vikings as: A Viking is one of the Norse (Scandinavian) explorers, warriors, merchants, and pirates who raided and colonized wide areas of Europe from the late eighth to the early eleventh century. Sounds a bit like the English to me!

We could all be related to Dutch.

Stanford Report, January 8, 2003

People from distant lands have strikingly similar genetic traits, study reveals

BY MARK SHWARTZ

http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2003/january8/genetics-18.html

" Another way to view this, he noted, is to remember that DNA is virtually identical in all human beings. Compare any two people, you'll find a DNA sequence that is about 99.9 percent identical.

In the less than one percent of the genome where genetic differences among individuals exist, it might seem intuitive that two people from different regions are likely to have more differences than are two people from the same region," Feldman noted. "But this is not the case. About 94 percent of genetic differences are among individuals of the same populations.

The conclusion, he said, is that people from different lands have more genetic similarities than scientists previously thought. "

Hi ronaldo

Don't think genes will have any bearing on the talks. Memes will be more important

They did find a lot of Viking DNA amongst the people of Shetland, Orkney

& Lewis. In England it was found among the Eastern parts of Yorkshire &

Lincs. where Scan. names of places survive. They invaded from Norway in

the north & Denmark further south mainly, I believe.

There are also some people in Britain, who look absolutely white, who have

been found to have African genes (from slaves/servants?) Interesting, but

just goes to show we are all a bit of a mixture. No master races, yet!
