Lots of teachers are 'doing good' in UK ...working hard with those raised, sometimes inadequately, in our society. It's a good job these 'do-gooders' don't all flee to the sun and snipe from the sidelines, isn't it?

@ msg 4, harita: What makes you think I'm in the least interested to read on C44 about crime in the Netherlands (or the UK)..?! I'm interested in life in TRNC and I'm looking positively at it.

DC here are plenty of posts to do with the TRNC on this site for you to comment on. You can tell us where to buy Marmite again if that helps you feel loved!

Well said Riddles message5. Unfortunately some expat posters sometimes have a "knee jerk" reaction to subjects they don't know much about - which seems to cover just about everything!!! I blame the Daily Mail!!

One cannot judge special school children on the same level as many have very disturbed backgrounds. Having worked in List D, as it used to be called in Scotland, most of such children are from severely deprived backgrounds. I had no problems with them as most of them seem to want a mum! Yet, last year a head teacher and his deputy were attacked by a 15 year old girl (ambulance sent for the deputy, small lady) and this was in a secondary school for so-called normal pupils. This was a school close to me and where I also taught.

No matter what excuses are given, lets face it, parental control, dicipline and standards in general have all dropped.

It's standard of living that has dropped and most everything else follows. All my friends/relations/colleagues/neighbours and their children still behave perfectly decently despite what the daily mail says and despite the burdens placed upon them by incompetent governments and greed at the top end!! Get a grip Paddywack things were much worse when you were a youngster in the 18th century.
