Can anyone add positive thing as all there seems to be on this forum is a lot of negativity. Can we all take a second and think WHY we came here in the first place and ask your self the question WHY you are still here if you hate it so much.

Rather than posting slanderous accusations WHY do you not get on the first flight out back to the place you left in the first place, there is know one stopping you and I think there is a flight tonight.

This is not racism its just me saying you either live here and follow the system we have as we cant change it or simply go back to the system you left to come here and try and change that if you can.

My top reasons why I love visiting North Cyprus because ...... in no particular order

It reminds me of the UK years ago .....

It has great weather .....

Its cheap to get there .....

We have great friends who live there .....

It offers good value for money ...

Everyone speaks English ....

There are great bars and restaurants ...

That mountain is fabulous to look at ....

Its Marbella ...waiting to happen ...

And finally ....You can drive on the normal side of the road ....which makes it easier for me to hire and drive a car ....

Chickadee

Cheap to get there - not necessarily but reasonable if you book early enough

Reminds you of the UK years ago - in what way?

It offers good value for money - well, it certainly used to.

Everyone speaks English - no they don't and I wouldn't expect them to. This seems a rather strange reason though, even if they did.

It's Marbella waiting to happen - have you ever actually been to Marbella?

You can drive a car on the "normal" side of the road. Would that be the left hand side - from what I've seen of the driving, it seems to be more of a "take your pick".

Hattikins - my posting was a little tongue in cheek. Agree with you about the driving (only joking, of course) and, like you, love it really!

This is a great place to live. To quantify is very difficult. A bit like the costas in Spain that are total c*** but behind the facade there is beatiful countryside, great people, weather etc.

The downsides that many moan about are an apparition. In the bureaucratic jungle it can be a bit of a pain at times but afterwards there are some great stories to tell and enjoy. It is life and despite the whingers both Cypriot and Turkish people go through the same hoops.

We have had a nightmare 3 years with our house and are still living on a building site. Occasionally wanted to commit murder but resisited so far and as before there are some great stories to look back on and laugh about with others that have been through similar.

You do need a strong constitution to live any where away from "home" but if you can cope with everything thrown at you, you will have a great life in KKTC.

continued.

If you can learn some Turkish you will be at a great advantage.

First the local people will respect you and they will try to go along with you and speak any English they know.

Second, you speaking Turkish is great sport for the Cypriots and Turkish as they will make fun of you. I know there have been occasions when we know we have had the pee taken out of us but so what!

Thirdly, I talk to the workers here (when we have any) they speak no English and my Turkish is iffy to say the least. We always get there in the end but the laughs in between are what make for a good life.

Do not know if this load of **** is what the original poster was after but we love it here. We both said the only we will leave is in a box. Now I have stated in my will that it is Lapta cemetary for me!!!!!

The only time I intend to return to England is July 2010 for a big party for my parents 60th anniversary and 80th birthday celebrations.

Hope that helps. e-mail me for more!

I found your posting very honest and down to earth. You are obviously in the position (going by what you say about the ups and downs you have been through) to give honest, unbiased advice to anyone thinking of moving here. We have a holiday apartment now, having visited for holidays for many years. I personally would not be tempted to make the move full time (Mr Wick would) but good luck to you. People thinking of "taking the plunge" could do worse than taking on board what you say>

All the very best.

Thanks for the feed back J msg 13.

I know I am often guilty of sarcasm against many on the forums but this was to me an honest question deserving of a sensible answer.

I think the most likeable things are the fact North Cyprus uses British 3 pin plugs and one drives on the left.

I'm sure there were a few other things but I can't think of them just now.

As I said to a friend the other day, if there was a forum here "England44.com" can you imagine the negative comments on there.
