Is the insurance policy for your property in TRNC and was it taken out in the UK? If so....please let us all know which company it is as it would be very useful for all the people currently having properties built off plan and may put their minds at rest.....a little

You will need to check with your own insurance companies whether they provide this cover and if they do, will they cover TRNC.

If correct it would be great. Only problem is that the UK insurer/solicitor would have to appoint a lawyer in the TRNC to take legal action.

i was an insurance broker for 30 years in the UK before retiring here.... My gut feeling (without looking at the individual policy) is that the insurers won't cough up..... The land issue is not going to help either, as the insurers could well think you have comitted an illegal act by purchasing land/having a house built on it, from the person who isn't the rightful owner. Also if the uk insurance policy has been renewed since the dispute in the TRNC was known, they could consider that there is a non disclosure off all material facts at renewal. Right off my soap box John

Excellent comment John, did seem too good to be true and i was thinking there would be some small print exclusions... a bit of insider knowledge and hands on experience does go a long way.

johnboy. You are quite correct. No UK Insurance company will want to get involved in any disputes within a 'country' that it not recognised by there own Government.
