Hi everyone, We have recently purchased and had fitted, a round stlye Turkish woodburner. The problem, however, is that we are getting black stinking water seeping from the chimney joints after prolonged use, ie 4-6hours. We have tried to tape the seems with foil tape and to ensure that the chimney is vertical and horizontal with a slight fall off outside but to no avail. I would be grateful for any advice or ides as to how, if, this can be cured. The original fitter has been unable to stop it. regards, Scamper.

it'll be fine once the joints of the pipes seal themselves up as you use it.Try not to clean the pipes to often.I have a neigbour(bless him) who insists on doing this every year and every winter they have the same thing. Mine has been one the best additions to my house, yet so much cheaper.Of course,I had smoked the house out few times in the learning process of using it.Much less wood's needed to warm your house up. Try hanging some sort of metal tub, bowl under it,so it drips in there.Job and a half to get it off floor.

I suspect that this is condensation in the flu pipe. We had this problem and cured it by insulating the pipe and then placing another pipe over the top. Our burner now burns a lot better and we don't need as much wood.

When you say slight fall off to outside do you mean it drops on the horizontal?

Thank you all for your replies, and in particular Yorgozlu, I shall persevere, although i have ordered some pipe sealant and a couple of rolls of exhaust tape from the UK, just in case. Scamper
