Unfortunately not. Those examples will all be consumed in the UK so no VAT refund. Only certian goods exported from the UK to certain other countries are eligible.

We have claimed tax back on new elecrical goods by filling in the form at place of purchase and leaving it at customs office at the airport. The cash was paid into our bank account, no probs, I'm sure a lot of people do not realise you can do this, however, as previous post said, you couldn't really claim for what you consumed in the uk.

Re message 3, make sure when you are buying something on which you can claim VAT back to tell them at the shop, that you will be doing this so that they fill in the necessary forms. You usually need your passport and sometimes your return ticket.

I claimed back VAT on my camera bought some 2 years ago now but took 9 months to get the money (less than £100) as the company kept making excuses; computer down, problem with printing etc. It felt like a ploy to wear me down but I persisted and emailed at least every couple of weeks until they eventually paid.

We've not had any problems claiming VAT back on a laptop and a wii, took between 4-6 weeks both times. We just posted the forms at the customs at Stansted airport and waited for the refund.
