Somewhere there will be a switch to turn on and off the wireless device on the machine, or possibly a key combination, using the FN key and one other key. There is some general info for HP laptops here (in pdf format) http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01430059/c01430059.pdf There are different ways you can 'turn off' wifi on latops. The above is turning on and off the actual wifi device itself inside the laptop, like removing power from it. However you can even if its powerd up just disconnect from a given connection, whihc is not really turning it off, but will stop it working (because its on but not connected to anything). Anyway the above link should point you in the right general direction.

LittleTed if it is just the case that the wireless device has a physical switch on it that turns the wifi on and off (that is actual power to the wifi device) , as some laptops do, then system restore will not 'solve' this issue. I am not saying that the issue is not related to (software) settings on the laptop in which case system restore may solve the problem. I just do not have enough info to know from the original post. I am just pointing out that it could be as simple as a little on/off switch on the laptop itself somewhere that has got knocked from on to off and if this is the case then system restore will not correct that.

Just to add I have found an online manual for the G6000 range. It DOES have a physical switch. It is located on the from edged of the laptop a little to the left hand side. I picture of exactly where it can be found is in this pdf document http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295900.pdf on page 6, and the wifi opn off switch is labled as '7' on that picture. This is the first thihng to try, in that if the problem is down to it having been physicaly switched off with this switch, then no amount of fiddling around with settings and system restore will make any difference. Anyway hope that helps.
