I have tried them all and decided to open an account at Creditwest bank at Karaoglanoglu branch for expats. The service is very good and professional. There is russian speaking and english speaking staff there as well. I have invested there and they gave me a good interest rate for my funds. I'm very happy.

Totally agree with Swanny each for their own, if most of your outgoings are in TL, and you really have made 'the switch' then TL investment makes sense. if your mind is still in GB and GBP then beware

Iktisabank are NOT offering 12% - I went in to have a chat today and the best they can offer on NEW MONEY and only for the month of February is 10.5% for 32 days. They will guarantee this for 6 months and then you are back to the normal rate whatever that may be. I may not be getting the best rate but am not prepared to spend my retirement chasing 1% and doing it every 6 months or so. Also Iktisabank do not let you open edeposit (time deposit accounts) online. They actually tried to tell me that the law prevents it!. Not true, until I had too many lire I used to always do my own with HSBC. There is a ceiling on this. Staying put. Have been with HSBC for 9 years and they try to look after their customers where they can, Julie is a treasure.

Geoff Over 100000 TL gets a good rate. The 12% quoted by Creditwest this week is for 500000Tl and has to be all new deposits and cannot include what you already have wuth them.
