whatever you are going to decide for... If you get LPG, which is my advice, get a condensation boiler, working at 60/40 degrees.

As you need a bit bigger rdiators as well, this system is a bit more expensive, but you save a lot in energy costs (the savings surely will add up to the original purchase price of the whole Central heating system) and you have a fair and efficient chance to integrate solar energy (solar thermal) later on to make the system "a good system".

Also take in consideration that you system should not be "the cheapest".. the lifetime also matters.

Remember it is not the cost of installation that is relevant but the subsequent cost of running central heating out here.

We paid an aditional £2,500 to have oil fired heating installed i our new house 5 years ago. After the first winter we were horrified to find that it had cost £1000 to run for 3months and that was for timed heating for a few hours morning and evening. We haven't used it since ( although it would have been nice this winter as it has been very cold).

We also had problems with rainwater seeping through the lid of the oil storage tank so all in all more trouble than it is worth. We decided to make do with a log burner in the living room.

To add to Muffin's sound advice, if you go for oil central heating, it is far better if the oil tank and boiler are integral to your home. If exposed to the elements or not very close to the radiator system rust and heat loss will be experienced.

I would suggest an lpg condensing boiler and cant recommend it highly enough We have only filled up twice this winter and we use it a fair bit. It is a lot more economical and a lot cleaner than oil in my opinion.

Be very careful of oil cnetral htg, friends of our had oil in their rental houyse, cost an absolute fortune to run, and you will end up hardly using it, so the whole installation becomes a waste of money.

We have Fortius boiler, heating a 4 bed open plan house (plus wood burher) and we have it on for an hour in the mornings to take the chill off the place, and an hour in the eve's if it's very cold, but the wood burner heats the house in the eve's too.

We use about 800-900tl gas every 2 years, and house is never cold.
