I am a lover of Johnny Lee's

But I thought you were trying to alternate all the different artists over here Friday evenings to give us all a wide variety ?

Who have you got booked in for the coming month please. Thanks.

Just a small criticism from last Friday LT.

Don't have the music that loud you can't here each other talk.....we struggled on Friday ans as a result we left a bit earlier than anticipated.

Other than that a great venue and deserves and will be a hit.

Bit of a rock band sometime perhaps ?

Kavenkoy, whilst I understand and sympathise with your comments, speaking with a little experience of performing ! Rock music is meant to be a bit noisy otherwise it loses meaning and atmosphere. Having visited Almond Sports Bar, although it is very nicely appointed, it has been built with highly reflective sound material. lots of marble and tiles which dont absorb soundwaves ! this would increase any volume of music by at least 30% and not neccessarily good quality. Some "rock bands" eliminate this problem by playing so loud it has no chance to reflect ! (ouch) ! Therefore it is a little confusing that you have suggested a "Rock Band" I am confident you would not be able to even lip read ha ha regards Barry

Thank You spider, At my age I need all the lovers I can get. (Don't tell Jan)

You are quite correct Spider, I am a big Beatles Fan, Take That and lots of other bands and artisits, but I would only want to see them every so often.

Of course in Summer it is much easier a holiday audience changing every 2 weeks or so.

I don't think any self respecting entertainer want's to perform in front of a few people.

But it is a difficult time here during winter.

I know that Gary is trying hard to find entertainment for Fri.s.

I was also abit concerned about appearing there within 2 weeks.

But it is very nice venue with a free Meze Buffet ,lovely and warm with great service.

So let's look forward to a Fri. night dance, may be get a few of you people out of hibernation.

i went along to support the venue even though the rat pack music isnt my bag .

Now i would most definately go if you were playing ...louder please

There you go Barry looks like you need to go down and see Ahmet, maybe have a chat with him, you never know, seems you also have an audience just like JohnnyLea and I am sure he will not be singing the same songs again on Friday, from what I know he has a very large repertoire (spelling ??) of songs.

So good luck JohnnyLee and the Almond Sports Bar you both deserve every success xx

Maggie, Just past the "Gold Lady" on the left towards Lapta ! Look for some unfinished large windowed grey houses (nothing new there) just by the turning. There is a sign for Almond Village on the road. regards Barry

Hi Maggie

If you come from the Golden Lady @ Alsancak going to Lapta, go past the gym on the left and the pizza shop and then past Starling on the right and another 200 yards on the left is the sign for the Almond Sports Lounge.Take that immediate left and 200 metres up straight in front of you is the Lounge.

Look forward to seeing you.

We have recently moved from Catalkoy to the Lapta area, and having visited the Almond Club on occasion think it is one of the better cabaret venues on this island, if not the best.

We have regularly watch Al August Jnr doing his show at several venues around the island and think he would go down very well with your customers at The Almond.

Having watch many other performers at other bars on the island they all seem to be wearing the same hat doing little better than karaoke acts. Al August dress for the part, and is a professional cabaret artist with regular following of fans that travel to see him perform.

Now living in the area we look forwards to seeing Al August Jnr performing at The Almond.

Dap3081, David, you do not have to travel far as Al August is on every Friday at the Old Mill, which is very close to your home in Catalkoy, also he is at the Sunset this Sunday, and I think he may be every Sunday at the Sunset which is very close to the Almond Club, almost opposite I think. Regards, Mrs Snakes.

Mrs Snakes precisely my point, and I did say something different. Why is there an abundance of crooners entertaining? rat pack, brat pack, nick nack wack wack. Didnt there parents play anything else to them as kids. Cant you nudge your old man please.

Its not all Rat Pack with Al August,,, it`s Soul as well, Lionel Richie, James Brown, Bill Withers, Ray Charles,, he gets everyone Dancing and Boogieing..... and you can understand every word he sings..... its not just Bang! Bang! Bang! in your ears all the time..... thats why there are over a hundred & thirty five people going to the Sunset on sunday and it`s getting more Busy... the responce has been fab..... it`s this sort of entertainment thats needed at Almonds not Rock... Sankes isabsolutley great but it`s not the sort of Venue Almonds that requires Rock,,,the acustics would be terrible as it`s a conctrete BOX.... it needs Caberet,,,, Dancing,,, Boogieing,, and yes a little Sinatra, Bobby Darren...... it`s a luvley Club... it just lacks good entertainment thats all...... And I think DAP dosent live in Catolkoy anymore they live in Lapta since this week and thats why they have asked... so the Old Mill is not close anymore.....

Al Aug does 1 venue east side & 1 west side

Yikes Al.....you sound really ratty!! We know the Sunset very well, Un and Dilek have loved Snakes (Sankes) playing there, I understand Ahmet's favourite music is rock!! I am sure you will be well received where ever you perform including Ahmet's 'concrete box'. I do hope that our good friend Johnnie Lee does not read your post, he is a sensitive man and would be hurt regarding your comment about the Almond lacking good entertainment. Kind regards, Mrs Snakes.

Jaga01 is my Girl friends post not me............ I have worked with Jonny Lee at a charity and found him to be a Nice man... also worked with the DJ Pete..... I`m not Ratty whatsoever,,,,,,, I`m sure Snakes is also a good Entertainer i have only heard good things about him.... I just do my own thing.... don’t do it for money,,,,,,, just because I love to Entertain,,, if you come to my new Cabaret Bar when we open you will also see me playing my Les Paul as I also do a little Blues..in fact I cant wait to have a Jam with Snakes on my" Blue`s Night" which will be Tuesdays... I have the rare but proud responsibility of Showing Noel Gallaher of Oasis his first Rif when he was a boy when babysitting ......." High Heel Sneakers"... the rest is history...... I also knew Phil of Thin Lizzy, Sean Ryder, Elvis Costello, Paul Young of Sad Cafe,,, I`m not only a Crooner,, but proud to be one........ it`s harder than you think to do it well.

Kind Regards to you and Snakes...

Sorry all I said was "go on snakes give it a go" and some bloke starts tellin us everyone he knows and his partner jaga01(with equal bad spelling) says the place is a concrete box and not suitable for rock music, bloody experts in accoustics also by all accounts. Its a shame Almond hadnt realised they were limiting their entertainment options to Alaugust and the likes, what a shame. looks like anyone who wants something other than crooning and rat pack and soul will have to go elsewhere. Shame looks a nice place.

Hello Mrs Snakes , yes I have been known to be a little sensitive, (It's me female side coming out ).

No problem I have had the pleasure of working with Al August and found him a great singer and very nice guy.

I am sure his comments were not aimed at me. I am normally complimeted on my dress , it's really pretty a little black num. very low cut. (female side again).

Also I appeared there last night, that was my third time inc. DJing to a packed house 2 weeks ago, last night was not mega busy but the audience said they had great time and I think Almond had a lot more than it's fairshare of clientele. I enjoyed it.

Also I sing a wide range of music , Inc. Dr Hook, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, T Rex, Take That, Will Young, Elvis, Motown, etc.etc. etc. also several female artists. (female side again) hope i'm not on the turn !

Snakes will be brill there . His fans like him loud.

Al does make a valid point about accoustics , but it is a common problem here ctd.

But I must say Almond is not to bad.

I don't need to lecture Barry about sound I think he knows more than most.

I did actually mention to Al when he posted that he was opening the Roof Bar and Barrell that the accoustics in the Barrel are the pit's really dreadful. It will be interesting to see if they have improved it when Al opens it in March.

Thank You to the lovely people who made the effort to come to Almond last night, we all know that at this time of year it's easier to stay in, So many thanks.

Msg 31, Whilst I am unable to boast of such a lengthy list of musical contacts in a professional capacity, I have danced with the late Edwin Starr to 'Contact' on stage when I was a much younger snake...... I am sure that our paths may cross at sometime. Kind regards, Mrs Snakes.

I have actually met and known many many famous people, not through entertaining , I had never done that until I came here.

Mrs Snakes Edwin Starr Superb Music.

However I did meet several fairly famous people through working in my dads music shops as a youngster.

But strangley enough I have just seemed to meet people. But I am not Star struck in any way, I would rather spend 2 hours with Ismail than a day with a big star.

They are no different to you and I. The one I admire the most Is Peter Knowles , Gods Footballer, who I also know well.

Lenny Henry was a close friend (and a right big headed forget your roots tosser he turned out to be)

I was subpoenaed to Crown Court in the 80s to on the side of Roy Wood (Wizard) against some very heavy proper Mafia . They threatened me with my life. Lucky for me the guy pleaded guilty.

Also we have lots and lots of stars go into my Restaurant.

Sorry I missed you Al.
