Have I missed something about Turkcell increasing their charges. My mobile bill this month (January) has doubled, as has my husband's, as has many of our friends. i enquired at the Lemar Turkcell desk this afternoon and was told to go to their office opposite Mr Pound on monday to find out if there was a line fault.

Interested to know if anybody knows something I don't, like have I missed something in the newspapers.

Mine too has doubled in the previous months bill so I went in and asked for an itemized list and they are now sending me that list each month by e mail. (Not received so far although my bill for January has just been received by text ! - 1/2 of last months ! i.e. back to normal !!!

They put their charges up from the 1st Jan, at least for bundled minutes packages, but unlike in the past this time 'managment' decided not to inform customers via sms of these increases. At least this is what I was told when I rang customer support to query my bill.

Yes, my bill almost double and my husband's trebled. We'll do like Birdman and go into the office and ask for an itemised account.

I am on pay as you go with Turkcell.

I tried switching to contract 2 years ago when we went to UK for a short break but I found , in my case , that the charges added up to 3/4 of my bill.

left it for 3 months to give a fair trial but no diff. When went to office they said I was wrong and that only cost TL 3 a/c charge but when you added vat and their service charge and from memory was one more cost....

So changed back to pay as you go.........no probs....but others may use their phone more....so may be cost effective for contract....still?

Mine has also doubled .. Put it down to all the texts to Andy-f when the Bin dippers dumped Manure out of the cup ..

On a serious note ..

Have Turkcell stopped giving free minutes when your bill is paid ..

Also if you don't "use" them do you "lose" them ..

I have just used 20 off my next bill .. Enquired how many is left in my store & reply was 20 ..

Not too long ago I had 75 & none have been used .. Don't know why .. More money than sense ..

Yes Harita the Turkcell "Dakika DepoM" free minutes deal apparently ended in Oct last year, though like with the price changes as of the 1 Jan 2012, there did not seem to be much informing of customers about this. I believe that you can still use the minutes that are in your 'bank' currently though no doubt these will disapear in due course as well if you do not.

I also have an issue with them regarding cancelling a data package I was on. When I cancelled it no one warned me that my phone would continue to download data after the package ended and that data service would not be stopped from their end, but would in fact be charged at a extremely expensive rate. So in three days from when my data package ended my phone, all on its own, managed to bill 35TL of data usage without my knowledge. Luckly I had a monthly cap set on the account, if I had not it would have carried on clocking up data charges.

Thanks erolz for that bit of info ..

The only texts I receive from Turkcell in English is the request for payment ..

Every other text is in Turkish .. They might as well send them in Chinese ..

Hence wouldn't know if I was told or not ..

I am sent texts by Turkcell in English every Saturday morning, telling me about their special offers. The texts arrive at 1030am and 11am ( Both the same text!) some others arrive in Turkish which I delete.

My average monthly bill has been about 25tl for the period from August to November. It then jumped to 68/69 Tl in November/December. ( Possibly a few more texts over the Christmas, New Year period.) January's bill back to 37TL but still no itemized list which they said they would send by e mail.
