It was sort of implicit in my question that a price per kilo would let me know if it was a good or bad deal... If the seller won't give me one before I place an order, I'm not going to.. would you? So to save me and everyone else a fortune in fuel traipsing around every outlet.... if you spot a good deal, please post it here with a price per kilo as without this info it's not really much use, unless you are minted. In which case please read another thread... ;¬)

Well you Grouchy old sod, I'm going to do just what you said not to - so there! Frozen Turkeys are dead/cheap (!) at any of the supermarkets in the south. Without the boss present, I can't quote actual prices, but I do remember the comment 'that's half of what we paid last year!" (in TRNC, for frozen). Only worth it if you've actually got reason to go there of course, sorry I can't help with comparative pricing on 'this side'... Keith. P.S. can you have a look at the thread 'logs delivering to catalkoy' please, and see if you've any ideas? TA! Keith.

Keith, I do hope they are dead... a live one would be far too easy for border plod to spot... what with all the squawking and gobbling going on... OK, and Cue Pike stage left....

last year we ordered 2 from a free range farmer here. black turkeys as well. we didn't need 2 so we promised one to a friend. when they arrived they were so skinny, they had been all feathers and nothing underneath. lots of appologies to our friends xmas day who had to go and get a chicken to cook as well. this year we will be going south.

Rose, It's called "fur coat, nay knickers" in Scotland... usually when Glaswegians are talking about hoity-toity Edinburgh women... but it seems appropriate in this case... Buy a big fat frozen one... much better...

Rose, It's not quite got the same connotation as the 'Fur Coat Nay Knickers' really means.. "Likes to look well-off and respectable but underneath... she is a goer" Obviously for the Turkey it's "good plummage but a skinny 'bint' underneath"
