HBPG uk meeting ?

as spoken about on other relevant thread, how praticle would it be for people in the uk to hold a uk meeting of the HBPG ?.



would M.S and crew fly to uk to gain support

what numbers would we expect (1000s i hope)

what venue (close to london?)

could a demo and march on TRNC offices with press coverage and demo etc be pratical ?



lets see where the thread goes,what support we in uk can give to each other ,and take away excuses etc



we will have natural organsiers here me thinks



we are in this together at different times

I think a midlands venue would allow an easier avenue of accessability from all areas.

I would certainly give the meeting my support.

Hi All,



I have said before that I will travel to any where in the UK but can I ask what you will hope to gain from a meeting in a hall or hotel in the Midlands? I thought the purpose for this was to get as much publicity as possible to our plight. Surely this can only be achieved if it is seen to be the TRNC that is involved. A march on the TRNC Consulate would link the two, or am I missing something?

I see this thread was also on the glencoecyprus forum a couple of days ago and they were suggesting make sure it is well planned and plenty of publicity prepared beforehand, this should be put on every site you know and lets see if it gets full support then it will be evident to all there is a problem

if done and planned correctly a meeting am ,then march pm with newspaper coverage,london T.C community who also have interest in properties etc would make sense.



i cant organise it so we will look for all people on all BB to arrange ,contribute and sign petitions etc .

as well as this im certain you would require permission to march off police etc .



so i threat for publicity could be TRNC newspaper coverage first ,warning governement of intentions and if nothing done with action points raised we could arrange and let the world see we can give or go against ,etc

It may help you to contact the Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad (ATCA) as I am sure they will have plenty of experience and advice regarding organising any kind of rally/protest.

what about online with a web camera much cheaper,everyone set up for about £30 we could then attend every meeting. Would be great as I would love to attend.



I would not go to any meetings unless they where drivable and realistic distance, but to turn on my computer well sooooooooo easy.



What would you gain by a march ?



Totally agree that we need to resolve this and the quicker the better. But to get peoples backs up is not the way forward. As it is illegal in the TRNC to demonstrate what can be achieved by a demonstration in the UK apart from the TRNC offices being annoyed until you all go away then it will be forgotten.



We have a brilliant advocate whom is becoming a respected figure with regards to our plight, do you not think giving her our support in the TRNC will be far better. She is Known and Heard



May I add with absolutely NO disrespect to Marion, is not the TRNC a male dominated society, do we need to take this on board Sensitive Male ego's and all that....

I live in blackpool but agree to maximise the cause the venue has to be the trnc office in london. Firstly people living in the trnc need to stand up and be counted and gain as much publicity as possible within the trnc. The time has come to stand up and fight to protect what is rightfully ours.

may be im a bit mistaken but i suggested a uk meeting following on from people who "couldnt attend HBPG meeting because they live in the uk" from another thread.



if its workable and something can be achieved and even if its allready on other BB boards then great .



i for one would like to take a look and offer others support in full .



i have a good builder /developer and have had no major issues(touch wood) ,but being a realist i would like help to change the purchasing process to protect and help others

Keithcaley,the hbpg was going to march on parliament here a couple of years ago.If I remember rightly a couple of plain clothed officers attended the meeting the hbpg was organising and warned them off with the threat of arrest as it is illegal here for foreigners to demonstrate unless they are part of an official union or something like that.It was in the paper and will probaly be on one of the boards if you go back far enough.Trouble is most of the boards back then were MSN boards.Try frank & joans it might be on there.

An idea is a good British Ambassador of TRNC - who better than the Heavy weight boxer David Haye- im sure someone over there has a connection, friend of a friend who can help.

this would be the shortest route as in his last fight it got mentioned on national TV about his training camp in TRNC & he even wore the TRNC flag on his shorts.

he is the biggest draw to millions of people in UK, and you would be guaranteed national exposure.

i maybe wrong but i thought i would let you know what i think!

who knows to bring it to the world stage he may fight in TRNC for a world title fight....????

I did want to establish if it was legal or not, as the idea of a demo / protest march has been mooted a few times on various boards, and I had a sneaking feeling that Gilken was right, but couldn't find a good reference source.

Of course, the newspaper report may not be accurate, but it is a starting point. I have asked our mutual friend Ismet (Elko) to comment.

You would probably be better off timing it to coincide with the David Haye fight for maximum exposure in my opinion.
