Purchased a property in the Catalkoy area and we intend to use as often as possible during the year. Will not be renting commercially but will allow family and very close friends to use the place when we are not there. We are investigating if there are any companies/individuals who would be willing to check the property prior to anyone arriving (Possibly day before). By checks we mean turn on electric, water pump, switch on fridge, check water and generally ensure things work. Plus we may want a small welcome pack provided of the basics to cover the first day in the apartment - we would provide a list. Do not want cleaning carried out as we know those that would use the place will leave as they found it. It would be an ad hoc arrangement as we do not want to be tied to a long term contract, so someone reliable and trustworthy. If anyone interested please indicate charges and make contact and we can meet and discuss further when we arrive in May.

Msg 3 - In the UK at the moment so do not expect anyone to call and rack up a phone bill...they can email?

Glad you have found your ideal villa. We have had ours for 5 years now, no problems at all - and we love every visit as do our friends and family. Enjoy it !

Msg 5 - Whilst we are relatively new to this forum, we have learn't quickly that there are always those out there that want to hijack a simple message or request with their own agenda. I remember your name appearing many times last year when we asked originally posted about purchasing a property in N Cyprus - their are a few who cannot help themselves but to respond negatively. Therefore I shall ignore.

Msg 6 - Many thanks. We will enjoy!

Back on thread - if anyone is able to assist or offer advice as per my original posting let me know. Will supply email if needed to discuss further off this board.

Msg 9 - Many thanks much appreciated.

As per my original enquiry and just in case anyone missed it:-

Purchased a property in the Catalkoy area and intend to use as often as possible. Will not be renting commercially but will allow family and close friends to use the place. We are investigating if there are any companies/individuals who would be willing to check the property prior say once a month check during the year and then check/turn on electric, pump, water etc prior to anyone arriving. By checks we mean turn on electric, water pump, switch on fridge, check water and generally ensure things work. May want a small welcome pack provided of the basics to cover the first day in the apartment - we would provide a list. Do not want cleaning carried out as we know those that would use the place will leave as they found it.

For those who have replied many thanks and we will be in touch to follow up soon.

Be carefull who you get to look after your property only take someone who has been recomended by someone you know personnally.

There is one particular lady who stays in Catalkoy who should be avoided like the plague but is highly thought of by some people.

Msg 12 - Thanks for the advice. Have had a few people contact direct and will certainly be very cautious. Feel free to contact direct if you can provide further info on person to avoid.

Will not ask anyone to look after our place until we are sure they are OK and we have met them.

Msg 14 - cyprusairsoft.

Not sure what you are trying to say re:-

"family and friends holds no water with the tax office as you will find out"

Is it some sort of code? I notice from your profile you are a retired bodyguard, appreciate you may need to be discrete but what are you on about?

Cheers

omg, A simple request to check a property and buy a few groceries, and people turn it into a guessing game and character assassination.

My advice would be to use a Property Management company that is legal you could still have an Ad Hoc arrangement. It is ok to meet people i have met some of my tenants they seemed nice still didn't stop me from getting shafted

I think what he is trying to say is that even though you will be simply allowing friends and family to use it, the Government will charge you tax.

If only Rowlo,

This has been discussed on many of the forums and every now and again the Government does searches to confirm occupancy. They check ins and outs and also search Owners Aboard and Villa Owners, not to mention the forum ads. Its a real pity they don't collect the builders/buyers taxes which would be worth considerably more with such enthusiasm.
