We stayed at the Pia Bella in september last year on our first trip to North Cyprus and had a great time,We would like to return but wonder if Famagusta in particular the refurbished Arkin Palm hotel would be a good option ? any advise will be much appreciated thanks.

Fama-g doesn't have anywhere near the number of restaurants or the variety of "night life" available in Kyrenia and is quite a trek from the airport!!

i agree but disagree completely about the airport comment - your geography is obviously wildly inaccurate. i f you mean ercan i would say its equidistant to magusa or kyrenia or larnaca the journey is im sure quicker - i should know i have lived in both. i have been in the pal hotelm and its now one of the best on the island if not the best and if you like beaches famagusta has without doubt the best - the beach at palm hotels maybe the best. i have to agree with restraurants that kyrenia has a wider and more pro europen choice.but there are things to do in magusa there are more shops the beaches are free .there is salamis ruins and the historic city. i wouldnt plan on a shopping trip here though as compared to the uk you will be disappointed!if you want to get away from english people famagusta is a good option. if you want to go and sit in english cafes and east bacon and eggs like at home kyrenia has this.id do 2-3 days palm hotel & 4 days rocks hotel kyrenia - perfect!

Have a look at Mountain View Hotel near Kyrenia as well.

I was very impressed for the price.

I would say Famagusta, beaches are much nicer, still good night life and plenty of restaurants to eat, I experienced it myself. And I am the person who likes good places to eat and have fun. traditional food is really good, english food you can have back in UK, nice to have some break I think. Lots of historical places to visit. To plan excursion to Kyrenia for couple days could be the option. I would say, if you are up for the beach - Famagusta!

Many thanks for all the comments, it looks like Kyrenia wins!! we chose Pia Bella for the location and the fact we didn't need a car, are the Hideaway and Mountain View far from the harbour?
