Does anyone know please...my friends 2 year work permit is due to finish. When she renews does she have to have new blood tests done every 2 years for this, as you do not do this with residency each time do you? Any advice very much appreciated.

CC, Thanks so much for your reply. She hates blood tests and usually passes out so I am sure this will be a huge relief. She was worried as after her initial 1 year permit expired and she then got a 2year permit she DID have to have another test. Would that be because it was the first of her 2 year permits do you think? Thanks!

Yes you do need a new blood test to renew a work permit, odd as you do not need a new one to renew residency

Lizie, so why is it that Clarecat does not have to have the tests every 2 years, do you mean that you have to? So is it the company that you work for that decides not the work permit department rules. Clarification would be great Thanks

It is my understanding that the blood test is a strcit requirement every two years for renewal of work permits... If this does not apply to someone who can show that they have not left the island in the intervening period, I don't know, maybe that's an exception which would, for once, make some sense... which would make a nice change.

Thanks. But, clarecat can you advise your circumstances as to why you do not have to get the tests please?

Hi bankadan, I had a one year work permit to start and I renewed it last November and had to have another blood test, the first year you can only have a 1 year work permit then you can have a 2 year one. I dont know how Clarecat managed to renew without one.

My understanding is you need a blood test if you work in an environment where food and drink may be handled. Otherwise not. Certainly CC does not work in that environment.

It is my understanding ( providing things have not changed since april) that you MUST have a medical report ( blood tests inc.) in order to obtain a work permit, the permit is renewable after 1 or 2 years depending on desired length of time ( renewals only ) . Also for certain trades eg if you are working in the food industry/ hairdressing/ beuauty (and some others) a medical report is required every 6 or 12 months ( for the beledeyesi depending on trade and which beledeyesi) is required. I hope this is of some help.

For the initial work permit, you get a blood test, after year one you get another, then every 2nd year you get one as your work permit usually is granted for two years after year one, however if you change jobs the whole procedure has to start again as work permits are not transferrable between employers

This is my eighth year working here as a teacher at Near East University and I only had a blood test when my first work permit was applied for. My last work permit was for 2 years and the university does all the paper work, payment on my behalf and I just pick up and pay for the permit in the office here.
