Even the pregnant{Greek}women have to pay for the delivery in a state hospital. This can be up to 1000euros. ...so if you cannot afford it,they don't give a birth certificate. Yes,it was their politicians lying, that started the Greek crisis......but reading this news has appalled me. Mike

latest mutters coming from "europe" is the 2nd greek bailout will be approved today (monday) this would mean the first tranche goes in on cue, to finance a 15 billion greek repayment payment on march 20 'course with all this uncertainty and anger, the eurozone will wait'n see if greece keep their promises in the medium term ...it might be a long wait and as you will agree, living with both a contracting economy and a still-growing deficit may be one step beyond appalling

Trust me, their problems haven't even begun yet. Mass migration will happen next as the young move to other EU countries in search of work, then taxes and contributions will fall further. They will be better off out altogether.

Terrible stuff, really. An imploding economy and this will result in an increase in dangerous home births.

Ismet,I welcome your huge knowledge, especially regarding ROC position and links with Greece.Yes,I know ROC is a separate EEC country. For many weeks now I have been going over the crossing in Lefkosa for weekends or Sundays.Yes,I have a close friend there.Already she has lost 1 job there[out of 3]she cleaned for a travel agent who is going into administration. That is this week,it seems the Hungarian airline was the last straw, after poor bookings the last few months. Are the Greek Cypriots worried for the future? I have already seen Filipinas sleeping rough in doorways, selling goods on street corners,to make ends meet.Vietnamese too selling vegetables.I l would like anyone who goes to Nicosia[South} on a Sunday, walk to the end of Ledra Street and around the bus station. So many Filipinas,Vietnamese, yes, their only day off.If Greece, ergo,ROC gets poorer, where will these lovely people go?2 other little matters:on next page..............

Part 2 of info to Ismet: On Sunday, whilst waiting for my friend,I was accosted by a rather attractive coloured lady outside the hotel. 20euros for an hour !!I declined, obviously.Whilst having lunch with my friend,we were asked to buy scratch cards from a Chinese girl.My friend, who has lived in Hong Kong asked why she had to sell tickets. She was a student at Uni there, and unable to work legally. So all nationalities will suffer, when Greece suffers more pain. Oh,and if you use Ledra Palace crossing, walk South, the first park is called Sri Lankan Park...many od that nationality there, only. I just feel so sorry for all those foreign humans who have gone to ROC to earn money, and when recession digs deeper, what will happen to them?

There was a brief interview on "PM" (radio 4) with a British Expat working in Greece, the austerity is affecting expats too. Asked if she was thinking of moving she said "Where to?" 15 years ago, people were telling me I was made to come here, and if I had to emmigrate should go to an EU country. Makes you think, doesnt it?

what is completely bonkers about the present situation is that debts are so huge, for even countries like france, germany and uk (as a matter of interest) that any cuts especially deep ones merely guarantees the supplicant will receive less and less tax revenue and never be able to pay I would call it mickey mouse economics, except that mr mouse (formerly an employee in a fleet street printing department so we are led to believe) ...will be ever less able to service the debt

Forgive my history[only GCE failure]was it Chamberlaine who came back from Berlin, with a piece of paper in 1938/9...saying "peace in our time". I think the EEC leaders will say similar,Greece is saved !!!!!They will pay all their debts on time !!!! I do not think anyone in the world believes this,it just gives time for the only alternative,Greece to print Drachmas,EEC to say well we gave them a chance. Perhaps the leaders in TRNC can learn lessons:don't give jobs to your family, try to live within budget,no excessive wage demands, think of your country first !!!!

The tragedy is that whatever country is involved, and however honest and efficient or otherwise the Government, it is the innocent and vulnerable who suffer - and the bankers and financiers who really rule the word - and walk away with offensively large pensions and bonuses.

I woudn't be surprised if the deal is already done to tur the lying Greeks out, the initial bail out's are just to soften the blow and so the Eurocrats can pretend they did all they can to help, and maybe save a little face, after all, the people that let them in are as culpable as the people that lied to get in.

I am not sure if i am thick! ( some people i know will say yes!! ) But its just been on the news about the Euro settlement for Greece. The head of the IMF has just said that ' tough negotiations have led to a deal wherby in 2020 Greek debt will be reduced from 129% of GDP to a MANAGEABLE??????? 120.5%!!!!!!!!! So in 2020 for every euro that the Greek economy raises they will owe 1.205 euro to their lenders. That seems like a recipe for disaster to me. And dont forget, this bail out still requires Greece to pay back figures in the region of 130% of GDP up to the 2020 date.

msg 20 No you are not thick. It is all part of the great EU lie and the intentions of the EU political class to destroy nation states from having any independence outside of the EU If the naughty little Greeks dont realise yet it is they who are thick.Their country does not belong to them anymore.Their leaders are not chosen by them anymore. In future elections they may elect their leaders but they wont be able to take any decisions without the EU/IMF agreeing them first. It is sad really that so many citizens have fallen for the claptrap these corrupt EU politicians spout. The country considered the cradle of civilisation is now being devoured by the EU monster
