One of our best ideas when we found that we had a rather hard orthopaedic mattress (we thought the memory foam was too expensive) was to buy from Home Essentials in Alsancak 2 sun-bed cushions. We unzipped them and glued the two pieces of foam together. We took them out of the covers because we wanted them to 'grip' the mattress and not move about. Very successful, very inexpensive (about 80tl for the 2) and extremely comfortable.

Hi We shopped around for a memory foam mattress last year. Heavens some cost more than our house! lol. Ended up at Mermaid at Karakum. Ours is half and half, sprung at the bottom and memory foam on top. Think it was about 1200tl Superking size.

One of our best sellers, is a sprung mattress that covered in memory foam and has a keep cool "topper" it is less expensive than "solid" memory foam and is 1485tl for a double (140 x 190).

Don't know about the mattresses these days, I had one years ago (one of the foam toppers) and had to take it off the bed, we were just too hot all the time! Had the memory foam pillows for years though, best thing we ever invested in. Hubby used to suffer with neck problems but now no longer.

Bought ours in the UK. Best money we have ever spent. Also bought the cool topper for it. With the air con on in summer we don't find it too hot and in winter it warms us up nicely minus the cool topper. Really love coming home to it when we go away and have to sleep on normal mattresses!

Why don't you buy a proper Tempur mattress from their shop on the Karakum road. Basic foam isn't "memory" is it? I have memory pillows and cost about 75tl/85tl (I think) from the Medical aids shop at the bottom of Bellapais road.

Sorry Msg.16 I didn't realise that. Has it moved somewhere else do you know because I do want to buy one, having been so pleased with the pillow. Maybe the Medical Aid shop stocks mattresses as well. I'll have to go back there and check.

Tango 1 not sure but I think there is a Tempur shop in Lefkosa. Having had a memory foam one prior to the Tempur, I have to say that, IMHO, the Tempur is by far the best.

One thing to watch out for with these memory foams are that some of them only have a couple of inches of memory foam on top, the one you want I think is the solid foam. They can get a bit warm in summer..
