Is anyone still using this service?

I am wanting to use it but have not been able to get any reply from Mark about how to do it.

Can anyone tell me how to do it myself, or will I need Mark's permission?

I miss his interesting contributions on this board. What has happened to him?

Has he been banned or maybe just decided to quit? (understandable!).

What username are you using ? I have a VPN connection on my machine using the username 'Smyth_Mark' and connecting to the server vpnuk.uktvabroad.com and it is working ok from here. I do not know what the password is but whatever was saved the last time I used it is still there and still works.

Thanks loulou,

Were you told it was going to stop or did it just stop?

I had email from him 3rd November advising me about the VPN.

I wrote back to follow it up (several times since) but no replies. Strange because it sounded like a good product.

Thanks to you all for the information.

I have now connected successfully using the details given in messages 5 and 7.

I trust Mark will not mind.

Regards,

Ozbey.

Groucho I think it is unlikely that extend are specfically blocking MM's vpn. However something I have seen in the past that has caused MM's vpn (and other things) to not work properly is where someone is 'double routed / double natted'. In the simplest terms, most people have a 'router' within their house that they use to 'share' their internet connection amongst multiple machines and devices. However the box on your roof actually already has all of the router functionality built into it already. In many set ups I have seen you then end up with all this router functionality in the box on your roof, which then connects to your home router that then duplicates this functionality, and this duplication can cause problems with things like VPN, from my experience.

You can in fact easily determin if you are 'double routed' or not by looking at where the connection from your roof plugs into the router in your house. If it plugs into the 'wan' port on your router in your house [cont]

then you are 'double routed' and this MAY be why MM's vpn is not working on your setup. If it plugs into a 'LAN' port on your router then you are not double routed.

I am also a bit confused by your msg 14 groucho ? Are you trying to reach vpnuk.uktvabroad.com in your web browser (Internet explorer or google chrome etc) ? If so that will not work. You should be able to reach http://uktvabroad.com/ via your web browser, but this is not how you 'use' the VPN, its just the website that explains the service.

OK, I'm officially confused! What method of running vpnuk.uktvabroad.com am I meant to use?

I thought you just went on via a browser entered a user name and password and bingo... obviously not... So how does it work?
