Does anyone know wether we still have to do throught the same long drawn out procedures for residency. We have some people saying that once you are over 60 there is no need to apply, is this true, ours runs out in december as we got 2 years the last time we registered. I can't believe that they are willing to lose all that revenue from the over 60's.

@ Honeybun: Until now I've read a lot of such questions - but NEVER read a positive reply from someone who didn't have to go for his/her residency. This may answer your question?

Yes Hans, loads of speculation and people saying it's not necessary if you are over 60, but no one has yet posted that they don't have residency being over 60, and have left the country and got back in again with no fines and no problems. Until that happens, or something is put in writing by Immigration, I think it's safer to keep doing it.

Ministry of Interior say it is a concession which can be withdrawn at any time - I wouldnt take the chance!! If you drive and live permanently here, you need the stamp to renew your licence anyway. It is an old British law somewhere in the statute books I think!
