Can I Buy A Home If I have A Criminial Record

Help.



Having researched into buying a home in Cyprus I came across some information which I need help with.



If I want to buy I have to provide a police check from the local police station in my home UK address.

Back in 2006 I was stupid enough to obtain a criminal record.



Does anyone have experience of this? How strictly are the checks applied? What can be done to overcome this issue?

Any information would be helpful.

The police check is purely to check that you are not wanted for a crime currently and does not concern old convictions,

I think having a criminal record to reside over here is a mandatory prerequisite!!!!



On a serious note you would probably be best discussing this with a local solicitor AND you may be in the difficult (and rare) position of having to complete your PTP process before you buy (big time delay) just to be absolutely OK before parting with large amounts of cash.



Could I suggest you buy the property in your husband's name.. then no problem about your criminal record biting you at all?

When you need the CRB you will have a clean record as its spent.

I have been waiting 6 years for my Deeds which is time for CRB .

I just heard the other day that somebody's sale fell through because the buyer had a criminal record and would not be allowed to purchase. This is just hearsay though. I don't know for sure.
