i recently had mine replaced for 230tl, but was later informed you only need to top-up the sand. Local pool co's quoted 450tl. i still have a couple of bags of sand if you want them there yours. in Esentepe! e-mail me if you're interested

You do need different sand at the top to what is at the bottom, as its finer sand at the bottom and sharper sand at the top I believe, or the other way around. You need to make sure the sand covers the top pipe by about 6" or so. When was it last changed as it does last quite a long time and may not need changing at all.

The sand is not cheap so shop around a little, although cheap is not always best.

The sand on top is finer, this does tend to get used up in the backwashing process, it's unlikely that you would need to add more coarse sand.

Check the sand is loose to the bottom while the top is off, and hasn't become cemented with calcium carbonate (scale).

Sand is not cheap, but 450tl is a well rip off! You only need to top up unless it's all cemented, and if it is, you can dissolve the calcuium with pool acid, but hardly worth it. When I did a mates for him, I had to break the sand with a SDS drill and chisel bit!

You can do it yourself or with the help of a neighbour etc for next to nothing, just make sure you turn off all the valves first! and be carefult of the pressure differential pipe inside that protrudes to the bottom of the tank.

Put a plastic bag over the internal when filling so they don't get clogged with sand.

Also after topping up the sand, make sure you backwash before you start to circulate again.

Yrret I am not sure what you mean when you said"put a plastic bag over the internal when

filling so they don't get clogged with sand".Our house is in Alsancak any ideas where the

nearest shop is we can buy sand.

Good luck
