| My brother is a British TRNC citizen and is currently doing his service in Northern Cyprus in the Navy and we're trying to find out if the new rules regarding military service affect him. So far all I can gather is that new rules have been passed, meaning some are elligible for early release. He has served five months already, but he's being told the new rules don't apply to him. Anyone know what the new rules are? Can't find diddly-squat on google. Much appreciated. |

| Sorry guys, the law covers the following; 1- If you are 5 months into the army and have got a PHD then you are exempt from it 2- If you are a British citizen and if you moved here after the age of 18 and served 5 months you are also exempt from it. 3- If one of your parents are of a foreign nationality you are exempt the new law is currently up and running Also if you are living abroad you have 3 months to come over and apply for the change to include you. |
