My italian water pump (1hp) needs replacing and my roof top solar cylinder is leaking (may need replacing too).

Could I please have worst case quotes for high quality replacement and fitting (but will invite plumber to determine if repairs only are needed).

I would prefer email contact if poss as well as phone contact as my family are there but I am travelling at present.

I live in Dogankoy and my family can give you access.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like the over-pressure relief valve seized, causing the hot water cylinder to rupture - this happens frequently in Cyprus if the valve isn't replaced with a new one annually - it's essential to do this, irrespective of whether the water system is in use, or not.

If your Italian pump is a quality one, there is a chance of getting it repaired - no chance with the Chinese ones.

Having said that I've had a pretty good run out of my Chinese 'Puma' pump.

There are various qualities of hot water cylinders in TRNC - 350TL should buy you a better one than your original. I say this because so many new built villas are fitted with, shall we say, 'cost saving units'!

Thanks John (appreciate the comments and advice).

Still need to wait for some quotes for replacement / fitting for good quality equipment (worst case - a simple repair is a bonus) - I would normally deal with it locally / ring round but my family don't really know where to start hence my long range request.

I can find you a totally honest plumber - believe me - he doesn't speak English, but he'll quickly and efficiently fix your problems at the most reasonable price you'll find in TRNC!

Here's his phone number> 05338721506 - his name is Ismail.

He will only need to look at the job to see how to fix it.

Just text him [ in Turkish] your address over your mobile phone, and > 'pump and hot water tank need replacing - please check the whole system.' - In Turkish> 'su motoru ve sicak su tankinin degismesi gerekiyor - lutfen su tesisatini kontol edin.'

Thanks Ricky - just waiting on confirmation of quotes. Are you able to quote based on info provided (I appreciate broad order costs only)?

Mess 4: Can you tell me where Ismail is based?

I am in Karsiyaka, too far probably if he is based in Esentepe or that end.

suehowlittle/ your Msg 11 - re. Msg 4:

Ismail is based in Girne - Karsiyaka no problem for him!

Just text him your address - he'll come and quote for the job and get on with it!

So many English expats have been delighted with the job and how conscientous and honest he is.

Guys - thanks for the advice and contacts. A complete failure of the pump forced my wife to act quickly and get a plumber in quick (neighbour's recommend). He's replaced the pump (Italian model) and is replacing the water tank tomorrow (plus relief valves etc). The costings seem pretty good compared to previous work I've had done / previous posts and he's happy for me to inspect / test results on my return before taking payment.

I'll let you know in a year's time if it was worth it (!!) but thanks again to for helping me out and hopefully other people will see all of your responses and note names / numbers for the future... but thanks to Ricky, Nicky and John for taking the time to advise.
