anyone know..do the rules about bringing older vehicles apply to large vehicles, i.e. a horsebox?

My friend bought a vehicle here which had a towbar fitted.



When it went for its first MOT he was asked whether he had a trailer because they also have to be MOT'd. When he said no he was told to get it removed before he could have his MOT.



I thought that a little strange because he may have wanted a little trailer/horsebox in the future.

anything without engine only requires of proof of ownership papers.

So why make him remove the towbar? Why would they tell him that it was not allowed and that he could not have his MOT until he had it removed?



This was 2 years ago.
