paul , in modern angling as we know it today the answers no, this is because all the carp stocked in uk comercial fisheries are farm bred and reared on hi pro baits like trout pellets, these fish no nothing other than eating these baits hence we all use various pellets to catch em. wild carp are a different ball game and the answer to your question is yes. some carp anglers after specimen wild carp stay at one lake for weeks just to catch one fish ( these anglers are known in the game as bivy boys) a bivy is like a tent that they sleep in during there mamoth stay at the lake. regards andy

You are right Andy, I have a narrowboat and once we went cruising for 10 days we passed some of these so called bivyboys on day 1 and asked if they had caught anything no came the reply but we have only been her 1 day ?

8 days later we came back and they were still there so I asked again "caught anything" just a few came the reply but they looked very miserable so I would imagine nothing worth braggin about.

9 days....thats dedication for you.

See not many like golf here as it went on to carp fishing in message 2.

I cannot see another golfcourse being built for a long time, I do not think Korenium is holding its own.

Watching a Polish chef cooking carp on the telly last night only because I didnt think they would be nice to eat,but I was surprised to find that it is on the menu in a lot of European countries and quite tasty as well so they say...

the problem is they build these courses then price them out of the reachof the average golfer.I agree that they have a large out lay initially.but if they kept there prices sensible they would attract a lot more people.I love my golf but there is no way I would consider joining a club where the cost is £1500 a year.I play on a lot of courses around our area and Ionly pay £10-£15 pounds a round......

played the korenium a few times agreed it's a little steep on price but i've played some well dodgy £15 ones so horses for courses. I know where I would rather be playing at the mo!! There was a whisper of anothergolf course planned down near the merit.

Nothings happening at the Merit.

If you want cheap, cheerful, and unpretentious golf try CMC at Yesiltepe. It isn`t up to much but the setting is magnificent and the members are friendly.

Not sure what the comment about Korineum not holding its own is supposed to mean. In my experience, I can tell you that the numbers playing at Korineum from Scandinavia, Germany and elsewhere in Europe is increasing significantly. The course is in great shape and is still being further enhanced, headed up by the Course Superintendent Nick Davies. As far as green fees are concerned, anyone who has played elsewhere in the Med will tell you that the fees are very competitive at Korineum. Try playing around at any of the clubs in the south, with the exception of the military courses, they are all around 60+ Euros, Aphrodite Hills is more like 100! I can't see any further investment in courses here until there is a political deal signed. The family who have invested in Korineum could decide to build another course if the future looked bright.

Coffer I agree withyour statements about price, but the £ falling against the euro its killing the golf holiday market in the euro zone.I booked a holiday for myself and three mates in Tenerife and the golf has increased by 40% since I booked. They wont accept payment in July for tee times in Feb..but we are committed to going so we have to go and hope for the best....

Re Newlad, CMC may only have browns instead of greens but it is self sufficient and not relying on the deep pockets of a wealthy businessman for its survival.

If you want to play there at any time let me know.
