You'll most likely find that the same alternator is used on most Daihatsu models. The reason is that it is uneccessary and too costly for any company to tool up for a 'one-off' - also, they probably out-source their component parts. I'm sure you can find someone in the TRNC motor trade to give you the correct information through experience - and, after all, the 'Terios' was a big seller for Daihatsu. You may, of course have to look South [RoC] - after crossing at Metehan, turn left a the roundabout with the yellow Olympic rings and shortly after the first set of traffic lights, on the opposite lane [so you'll have to turn around and come back] there is a main Daihatsu dealer showroom. There are many used parts suppliers in RoC [Nicosia] - they bring in container loads from Japan and Singapore - much cheaper than TRNC. Hope this helps!

It's also worth checking if the same part is in the Toyota Cami, this is essentially the same car as the Terios, (Badge engineering), and may widen the availability.

Gazmuf78, If you go to ant auto electric here they will check to see if it can be repaired, which they are very good at, they can completely service an alternator, I have had it done for a car and for my boat engine. One place to try is the auto electric by the teachers hotel or Kyrenia garage in the old town. It will work out at less than half price of a new one. Mel.

If all else fails there's the industrial estate in Lefkosa. I can't give the exact directions but it's a large auto garage right at the top in the in the north west corner of the estate. They break vehicles in Japan and ship the spares over here in containers. I had a new engine fitted by them, very professional and plenty of spares in stock. The chances are they'll have what you need.

Yes, the auto electrician in Alsancak was brilliant when our Nissan X-Trail's automatic windows stopped working. We were unlucky that it broke in the 'down position' but he, on the spot, although he was very busy, fixed it shut with a piece of wood inside. A couple of days later he fixed the problem permanently and not expensive at all. The saying is that necessity is the mother of invention - so true, I am full of admiration for the way the mechanics here find a way to repair things which we would have thrown away.
