Does anyone know the opening times for the Fish and chip shop (Lambos - same as Dhekalia i think) on the Famagusta Sovereign Base ? We have been that way quite a few times and have never seen it open. Thanks

Its open every day except Sundays. They close for about a month in summer to give all the staff a holiday.

I don't think the offshoot at Ay Nik is open during the day, it seems to open around 1700hrs. I am going that way tomorrow so will check.

For me, message 4 is the perfect example of why I never bother with the 44 search facility. Is there somewhere in that link that gives the current opening hours of the Lambros Shop at Ay Nik?

I have, but the point of search is to find the answer easily. Can you post a link to the info requested by the OP? Thanks

If its only a mile then that's nothing for a good fish and chip supper! Never used that crossing point before as have always used the one at Pila and then driven onto Dhek fish and chip shop from there - quick detour to Lidl on the way, just off the motorway - then onwards to LCA to pick up visitors. It is only a once or twice a year trip but worth it if going to pick up visitors. Directions from the Ay Nik point would be handy if anyone has them - I think I can find the crossing point from other threads but the this is the first time I have heard of another branch of Lambos. Thanks to all.

To get to the Ay Nik chippy, go through the crossing onto the base, 1 mile and its on your left between the 2 small traffic islands.

Thanks yenibob - will give it a shot later in the year when it warms up a bit!!! Have found out that it is only a take away (or was three years ago) so a wander down the road with my newspaper full of fish and chips will take me back a few years - lol.

theparson - we have never had to show GC insurance. We thought it was because you do not come off the base - but they don't know you are staying on the base. We noticed at the GC exit of the base there isn't any insurance/customs/passport checks. So not sure why you don't need GC insurance as there is nothing to stop you just keep driving off the base into South Cyprus (wouldn't want o risk it though just in case of an accident !).

We were told a long time ago that GC insurance was not necessary so have crossed several times and not been asked for insurance.....................until last week when we were asked for GC insurance. We were not allowed in. To be honest it makes sense, I suspect TC insurance will be useless on a Sovereign Base
