Has anyone had their villa cladded on the outside for insulation?

im gonna do my place msg1 , but im gonna do it internally , for insulation to work properly you need to create a cavity , could be costly doing it externally .

My brother had it done to his villa on the exterior bricks with plaster on top. The first winter the rain and damp penetrated the walls as if the cladding was not there and all the plaster was "blown" inside and outside ! Clearly there is no substitute for double brick, cavity filled, and I guess even that will be rendered (excuse pun) useless unless all is done on top of a damp course or quality membrane.
