Yes. The Telsim system is actually run by Vodafone so it might be cheaper to use here if you are calling friends on the same network.

But whichever system you use it will be much cheaper than using your UK sim in roaming mode.

Yes, i had the wifes phone unlocked, and use a Turkcell sim card every time in cyprus ,no prblems, you might need the staff in the shop to put the credit on the phone for you when you buy it, and they are more than helpful to help.

Sorry JD

its Turkcell that is in partnership with Vodaphone, We have Turkcell sim cards in our mobile phone's and while in the UK as we are at present it comes up Vodaphone UK

Gemini39

You are best getting a card direct from the Turkcell shop at the top of the high street by the Beladisi, after that you can get credit added at any Lamar,as well

Rightly said by butterfly its 15TL with 100 credits

Your mobile phone will also work in mainland Turkey on Turkcell Telsim does not

My Turkcell sim comes up as T-Mobile in the UK now! It did come up as Vodaphone originally, when I bought a new phone and put my Turkcell sim in, so don't know what's going on.

@Smity (Ms 7)

"Vodafone Turkey is also the owner of KKTC Telsim in Northern Cyprus. On December 13, 2005, it was announced that British-based mobile operator Vodafone had won a public auction to purchase Telsim, for a price of $4.5 billion. The old Telsim brand was phased out on 31 March 2007 in favour of Vodafone, in line with usual practice."

There was some information on 'Roaming' - i.e. using TRNC sim cards outside the country here: -
