Get a Multimax connection, you dont pay anything extra to watch BBC and ITV, only your internet connection. 4Mbps connection costs 80TL / month. K.

or alternatively...if you want to watch your channels on a proper TV set with all the functions that come with it, buy yourself a satellite dish and use a SKY card/box. BBC channels are not available but the rest can be watched on a 1.8m dish.

@andre Econony 2mbps connection is enough for on demand services and usually should be sufficient for streaming, however, I recommend 4mbps package for 20tl difference for anybody needing streaming. @stewart. Looks like a multimax connection combined with iceman's 1.8m dish solution can get you all you are asking. K.

The advantage of using t'internet for BBC1 to 4 + cbbc etc is that they do allow you to download programmes overnight & 'timeshift' which I find more convenient than staying up well past midnight This even works fine on a relatively slow connection (There you go - just saved you 20 TL )

Hi Stewart. Multimax sells internet connections. It adds some features that make it easier / cheaper to use the internet connection for viewing online UK TV content, but the connections are 'normal' internet connections other than these features. As to if you can simultaneously stream video and also do 'other things' with the connection without affecting the streaming video that is just down to what level of service you go for (2mbs,4mbs or 10mbs) and what 'other things' you are doing are. A BBC video stream might require 1.5Mbs of bandwidth. So if you have the basic 2Mbs service from multimax you could do another '0.5' Mbs of 'stuff' without affecting the video, at least in theory. In practice the 4Mbs service would give you much more 'headroom' in this regard. However if the 'other things' you are doing is downloading at 3.5Mbs using a bittorrent, then you will not have enough left for streaming video.

Hi Stewart You can also get a smart box to supplement your Multimax connection from TECHMAR in Girne Karakum opposite the Lemar. Right now we are out of the smart boxes but we should hopefully have a fresh supply by the end of next month . The smart box enables you to access the internet through your TV so you can watch BBC iplayer on your TV without the need of using your laptop. So you can use your laptop as well as watch your favourite soap on the TV at the same time. And the cost of the smart box being only 399 TL makes it a significantly lower investment than a new laptop. As a side note, we also supply Multimax connections at TECHMAR. You can pay or sign up to Multimax services at our shops in Girne, Karakum or Lefkosa, Ortakoy. Thanks Yen TECHMAR 0392 8155441 http://www.techmar-online.com techmar.online@gmail.com

Hi yrys88, The smart box sounds like a great idea, you say watch your soaps but mention BBC i player only, will it work with the other channels such as ITV, 4 and 5 that also that offer catch up TV. I know that media streamers can offer BBC iplayer, Youtube and some online films. Can you tell us the make of the smart box and is it capable of doing more than a media streamer. Thank you.

| Hello girnegeeza Its a LECLA Smart Box and its Android based, 2.3 to be exact. Yes you can stream various media from the internet. YouTube being one of them. I am currently short on info because we are receiving a new shipment and I have only tested BBC streaming capabilities on a sample, so far. ITV should also be possible. We are also working on live TV too. And as far as I know the box will also have Skype communication capabilities and provided you plug in a usb camera you can video chat on through your TV! Also, provided you have a sling box in the UK we can install sling player on the box which enables you to access your sky box in the UK. The box is also capable of playing full hd bluray videos. All you have to do is plug in your external HDD or USB stick. Also capable of using a wireless mouse or keyboard. Plus many more features. Will put up a post as soon as we have more info.
