| They are OK! There is a 1-hour stopover in Turkey where you stay inside the flight - can be boring so make sure to bring something to read. The price of flying with CTA is probably higher than other airlines serving North Cyprus - because I work in travel industry, I know there will be another airline starting early 2007. You should also consider flying to Larnaca airport in south Cyprus. Make sure to prearrange your taxi transfer though, which costs around £40 one way. The CTA crew tends to be nasty sometimes but overall I don't think it should be a major factor since most people say the crew is just fine. Do let us know what you think about CTA if you fly. Izzet |

| CTA are much improved from what they offered even five years ago. I undrestand that their help and service with the recent lack of flights due to the UK fog has been superb on a par with the biggest airlines. From another board I understand that there will be two new airlines servicing North Cyprus in 2007. At present there is CTA (Cyprus Turish Airlines / KTHY giving you the other names they are known as) and also Turkish Airlines (with Turkish you need to change planes) but they are threatening to start some "direct" flights too. |

| We often fly CTA quite generous leg room on time comfortable seats food not the best but edible. Ercan is a very very good airport much easier to fly in to North and on your way quickly. Larnaca can be a nightmare and then the long journey to the North unless very cheap flight in my opinion not worth the hassle to save a couple of pounds especially if you are going out on holiday you want the start and end to be as stress free as possible. Turkish Airlines are not as good last journey they lost our bags and split up 4 couples who arrived from Ercan transitting via Istanbul (including us). We had a 2 hr wait in Istanbul but the airport is large comfortable and you can while away the odd hour there - Duty free very cheap especially tobacco & Ciggies. |

| Thanks for that info; much more up to date than some of the travel boards I've been reading! Will watch this space about new airline. Direct fights will be gr8t, and Tony Blair's weight behind the idea *should* help - after all, his wife did a pukka job on the Oram case. |

| Just seen on the TRNC Villa owners bb on MSN:- News just in 04-01-07 11.00: DearAgent, The Chancellor has announced that as from 01st of February 2007 all Uk Departure tax (APD) will increase to 10.00Gbp. 10.00Gbp tax will be taken on all issued tickets who are for travelling as from 01Feb2007. Cyprus Turkish Airlines This confirms the APD information we published last year. The cost of this will apply to all flights/packages even if they have been booked and paid for. The only thing I can offer is to suggest you look at our http://www.flightholiday.co.uk web site and book your Oscar rental car at very reduced rates to make the money back! All of us at IAH would like wish all of you a happy, healthy, wealthy 2007. We are just re-opening the office and will try to respond to your emails over the next 48 hours. (We were lucky and just flew into Ercan minutes after the storms and powercuts, I hope that all of you got into North Cyprus as best as you could after the fog problems in the UK - CTA made quite an effort to get you all there including the Luton flights.) | Hi, in reply to message 2. as far as taking something to read, I think that applies to the whole flight. There is nothing to do, they dont let you use a laptop or games or Ipods, nothing that requires batteries. They dont provide entertainment either. When are they going to get it together? It jsuts gives us more time to look at the smiling faces of the attendants, if they ever comeout from behind the curtains. I think you will all agree. Happy flying. turbo |

| Seen on another forum ot two:- Bits and pieces confirmed today: The new APD will apply to all flights to North Cyprus or Turkey and CTA will have to apply it to any flight from 1st February £10.00 (be glad that the chancellor has said that these routes are European or that would be double). British taxes have gone from £5.00 to £10.00 for all flights from the UK with CTA from the 1st of February (that includes if you fly from Turkey or North Cyprus as a return to North Cyprus or Turkey). With their new fare structures CTA are asking for full payment on confirmation of a booking (which was not the case before), they also are offering less time till they release the options.
