I like the Pia Bella, they will do a deal on rooms and also do a deal on car hire. Will also pick you up from Ercan. Food excellent, prices good, some rooms a little tired but still good. Nice ambience, good staff, ask for a south facing room so you can overlook the pools, gardens and mountains. cheers guin

Mags- Hi, I suggest you have a plan B in place just in case things do not go as smooth as you hope they might. When we had our keys handed over to us it was on time but the electric, well thats another story. We were lucky in the place we stayed for our first week had a cancellation. The moral have a plan B & maybe even a plan C. P

Hi Margaret, I would highly recommend http://www.birdrentacar.com Fantastic company, very friendly and good prices, also Pia Bella is good, Ship Inn is good. Are you flying to Larnaca or is it Glasgow-London- Ercan I`ve heard a roumor that Cyprus Turkish Airlines might be brining back the Glasgow-Ercan flight. Hope so, it saves a lot of hasstle for us Scots. Hope you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR. stevie-d

Hi mags1 I have just booked 2 flights from Stanstead - Ercan return in September and total was £338.00 So be very aware that all taxes and booking fee are added to the basic cost. My flights started out at £135.00 return which sounded great and then you have all the add ons. Still cheaper than CTA and last years prices. The Butlers wife

Thanks all for your advice.I did not add on charges but it still seems cheaper than other options. We in Scotland are second class citizens when it comes to cheap and available flights and it adds hours on to travelling times. Our other option is to fly from Glasgow to Larnaca or Paphos and drive up.It seems six and half a dozen.I would appreciate any advice from all you seasoned travellers. Happy New Year-hic!! having a hair of the dog.I think it's an old dog.

Hi Mags You may be second class citizens in Scotland when it comes to cheap flights, but you could subsidize your flights with the money saved on prescription charges and tuition fees.

Hi Mags, A big happy new year to you. I am writing from the Mountain View Hotel. We are a family run hotel just on the outskirts of Kyrenia, originally from South-East London. If its a reasonably priced, warm hotel you are after I'm sure we would be a good place for you to choose. Take a look at some feedback we have obtained from tripadvisor, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g190378-d565885-Reviews-Mountain_View_Hotel-Kyrenia.html . If you would like anymore information, or a good price quote(we are currently sorting out cheap flite and accommodation packages) please email me at mountainviewcyprus@hotmail.com. With kind regards, Sue - owner http://www.mountainviewcyprus.com

I am really sorry to say this but my other half booked the Pia Bella as part of my Christmas present so we could enjoy a night in Girne without the worry of driving back to Lapta after the celebrations on New Years Eve. The hotel was fully booked and all they could offer us in the way of warmth was one blanket between two single beds as they were fully booked. They advised us to use the air con units, but the simple fact is that they make me ill. We spent a most miserable night there and were back home in Lapta before 9am the following morning without even having a hot drink (the kettle was not working) and we were so miserable we could not be bothered with breakfast. Pia Bella is a nice hotel but we had a dreadful night there.
