Jamie, couple of hours to the Troodos. Check out http://www.skicyprus.com. Jubiliee hotel nearest the runs, cheap, basic rooms, not overpriced for food/drinks, warm. 4 runs, longest only 800m, usually only 2 open mid week, just turn up and ski. If no 4WD you will deff need chains to get to the slopes. All kit available for hire, need credit card as deposit on kit when hiring. Enjoy. Brian

msg 3: - Brian - where do you rent the kit? There is a wooden hut at the slopes, with a cafe next door, raging hot stove burning, and the kit is rented there, literally at the slopes.

Lee if you want to contact me off board with dates and number of people I can check with our associates in Istanbul who can probably arrange it in the Bursa region of Turkey (we have in previous years). info@flightholiday.co.uk

What I was wanting to know is when is the best time to go, how much it would cost when is the most snow. I have an apartment in TRNC and wanted to combine the both for two adults maybe more depending on the cost Thanks Lee

No guarantee when there is most snow but I would hazard a guess possibly best in early February (that is when we have our snowshoeing tour in Cappadocia). Costs would need details as to what sort of accom. what equipment etc. that is best done off site.

Re getting to the slopes in the Troodos, does anyone know if there's somewhere near there that you can park your own car and catch a bus/rent a 4X4? Do any of the hotels there run rides to the lifts? Only because I don't have 4X4 or chains but am thinking of going with a friend next weekend.

I Skiied at Uladag back in 1999 at Christmas and the snow was pretty good (but not up to Canada/ North American standards. It was best to stay on mountian as the cable car (I think called an aksaray) to Bursa had a queue that took hours mostly waiting outside in the snow at night to get back Back then all of the lifts were owned and operated separately mostly by hotels so you couldn't get a combined mountain pass like you get in most places. Also the ski equipment available for hire was pretty old and basic. Not sure if these things have improved/ changed much since. I also ruptured an ACL doing a jump there and had to get myself off the mountain as there wasn't much in the way of snow patrol or medical services unless you wanted to use the army. Aussie

Lee - Msg 9 If you check the link I posted (msg #2), it gives daily updates on snow and conitions and which slopes are open, there is also a web cam link so you can see conditions too, best time is usually Jan-Feb, but the Troodos are not that high, so no concrete garauntees Susief - Msg 11 No busses etc, you cab buy chains in Super Home Centre in Emgomi Mall, can't remember the price but they have various sizes, easy to fit. I should also clarify my own post #7 - Clothing is not available to rent, just boots/skis (can't remember if there were boards there too though)
