My car road tax is due shortly and I'm not aware of the cost or method of payment.

Tha car is a 2litre Suzuki Escudo petrol engine and I would very much appreciate any information about the cost and method of payment.

Thanks

I think car tax is now paid at the Tax and Revenue office which is opposite the old tax office. The tax rate is based on the kerb weight of your car as well as fuel type, petrol being cheaper than diesel. Apparently, they are also giving discounts to careful drivers though don't know exactly how this works - perhaps you need something from the Police to confirm that you have not had any traffic offences in the last year.

Hi Magicart

Cost will be 949YTL if you have no traffic fines for 1 year you get 10% discount, if your car is over 5 years you will get another 15% and next year if you have no traffic fines you wil get another 10% so that could be in total 35%.

i got my discount in November from the Magusa office, the car tax office was fully aware of the new discounts

Slight correction on the 15% age discount. The car has to have been registered in the TRNC for 5 years if imported into the TRNC by the original owner from say UK..

Hi Magicart, just wondered if youve done your tax already? Which office did you have to go to? And did you get any discounts? Did you have to do something other than just go to the main desk?

Many thanks.

Magicart

I paid my car tax on a Nissan cube 2002 a few days before Christmas, the offices have moved across the road from the old office, Tax for the year was 222ytl but you can either pay for the year or 6 months, I didn't think that was too bad, you show your MOTand emission test and logbook I found them very helpful.

Hi, Has anyone paid their car tax on the internet. HSBC has a section for paying the car tax, but it has 3 boxes for the registration number, and cannot figure out where the numbers are in the Certificate of Registration Form. Maybe it is for Turkey only.

One other question I forgot to ask? If you go to the office, do you just show your documents or do you have to fill in a form as well?

Hi stellasstar1

At the office, show the documents required,

they then tell you how much to pay
