In response to a question posed on another thread:

http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/9240.asp - msg#39

Can we all try to arrive at a definitive meaning of the 'RUMP' as the word, which I believe may be an acronym often appears on this board.

According to my dictionary 'tail end of beast' and probably more to the point 'persons posterior' so I would suggest that it means that the ROC is the ar*e end of the island. But please don't quote me.

Its a firly common phrase in all its meanings.

The Parliament left after Cromwell cleared it of all opponents was known as th Rump parliament.

In Cyprus terms it refers to the fact that the TC deputies and ministers were excluded from power in a similar way.

Thus Rump ROC, i.e that bit left once TC's had been excluded.
