Has anyone had laser hair removal in Cyprus?

I went to a clinic in Lefkosa, but wasn't all that impressed. I know that it takes a few sessions for the hair to completely disappear but I didn't notice any difference at all after the first session. Also, they shaved the area before they started! They said that this is standard practice because if the hairs are short, it takes less energy (and is less painful) to destroy the hair. Did anyone else find it painful? I found it more painful than waxing!!

Bigcheese - firstly, I have never had laser hair removal and so not in a position to comment really. However, to "shave" the hair first seems to go against the grain (pardon the play on words) of any form of hair removal.

Personally, I don't find waxing particularly painful, but I expect that depends on the areas!!

J

Bigcheese, I have had this done in the Uk with transform and they certainly didnt shave me lol, the only thing i was told was not to get sun on the part being treated, I noticed an immediate improvement and I had about 8 sessions which were 90quid a time, I was told the hair would probably return after a few years, well it lasted approx 18 months max and I am in same position as before so need to have it done again. Not sure I would bother and yes it was painful.

Can I ask how much they charged you? ta

big Cheese,

'er in doors had her underarms done in the uk about 5 yrs ago - yes you need to shave (apparently, if not the lazer sets the hairs on fire), it took about 8 treatments but 5 years later no re-growth...

She now wants more done - could you let me know the phone no/directions ?

Thanks

nn if you shave the hair off what is there to laser....cut long hair down yes, and the hair that's left burns obviously but doesnt catch on fire.

Dee, according to 'er in doors - the lazer is destroying the hair root - the bit that grows above the skin is nothing to do with the process, apparently...

Apparently the latest fad is called a "Brozilian" a brazilian for blokes. A tree in a desert looks bigger than one surronded by undergrowth, whatever that might mean.

The clinic I went to was in Lefkosa - on the main road where Cangar Motors and Jetgaz are. It is called Tufan.

I think I will give it another go and see how I get on.

I lay on a beach one day and listened to Russian speaking women discussing this subject.. thinking I didn't understand.. I was reading an English Novel..

Apparently, the Pontian Greek lady said that she had had it done and it was told it worked best for dark haired ladies... she had had it done three years before and never needed to "mow the lawn"..

I learnt all the pros and cons of waxing / shaving, laser treatment and they were BLISSFULLY unaware that I was still on the same page for an hour...

mmmmmm

would you like to share the pros/cons of waxing/shaving/laser treatment you overheard?

I haven't been back yet to the clinic and all of the hair has grown back!

I know it takes a few sessions to get rid of it completely, but I still thought that I would see some difference even after 1 session (I actually think it looks worse if that's possible?!)

My friend tried laser treatment and they did not shave before using soing the laser treatment. At the time the hairs fell off she said and it did pain. She completed 8 sessions but a year later they have grown back again! No use! And yes, I also heard that lazer works better on dark and thick hairs. I think no matter what you do it's all about your genes, even if they burn the root your hormones will produce them again, my opinion. By the way she had it done in Famagusta.

I had some laser hair removal in England, and no they didn't shave the area first, yes it hurt like hell, and yes it grew back again quite quickly and yes it does not work to well on fair hair. Oh I forgot, and yes it was expensive.

a friend and I had laser treatment done a few years ago at the German Aesthetic clinic in Lefkosa and they insisted the hair was left "au naturel" for a while before we went. They did neglect to tell us until the end of the very expensive treatment that it does not work on white/grey/fair hair! Perhaps there is a new system?

Apparently there's a system in Turkey where they put you through a device, you dont feel pain(not laser).. My friend is trying that at the moment, no hairs now but will have to see the results when the treatment is over. Because during laser all hairs fall off too but it's important if the hairs grow back or not after the treatment. But she's happy with it.

I had laser treatment twice, in certain areas, before we came out here in the UK, and must admit that these areas are still pretty hairless. I was told to completely get rid of the hair it would take about 6 sessions but I decided that after 2 goes I was happy with the result.

Yes they did dry shave me first and advised that I not be suntaned as could leave stains I was also told that it works best on dark hair which may be why mine was so succesful.

They might do it in Pamper yourself in Catalkoy.

Girls contain yourselves. You are suffering for the wrong reason. Just shave like us men, there is nothing wrong with that. You are now in Cyprus, it is common practice amongst both sexes. Just enjoy life and the rest will take care of its self.

I recommend twin blade and skin sensitive shaving foam, but I am sure APC/Oracle will have something to say about that.

Over to you dearest. But really she is not that expensive, onest gov.

Has anyone tried Laserium at Kyrenia?

If Im not mistaken its the laser machine that counts which makes the difference between a good result and a bad one. The color of the hair is another main issue as well I guess.

Ive already met the doctor at Laserium and Im convinced that I could at least give it a try...

Hi Bigcheese,

I have done laser in Girne Kamiloglu Hospital. I am quite surprised to read that you were asked to shave, because my laser doc asked me not to shave for about 3-4 days before the laser.

This was over a year ago and I was asked to pay for one session and the next was free, and then paid again on the third session and then free again.

The treatment hurting depends on the strength that your doc uses (also depending on the hair colour and type)

I suggest you to go see a doc before starting to get more info.

Cheers,

D.V.

Hi Bigcheese,

The clinic is absolutely right in asking you to shave a day or two before your treatment. This ensures that a higher level of energy reaches the base of the hair follicle. Energy dissipates the further it has to travel so long hair would be less effective. Also, leaving the area unshaved and then putting a laser on the area would burn the hair which would then land on your skin burning you; this is another very important reason why the hair has to be shaved.

Do you know if your practitioner used Class 4 lasers or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)? This would be a factor in effectiveness as IPL is proven to be far less effective and very random in its results. Also, what colour are the hairs that were treated?

With regards to pain, paracetamol/ibuprofen taken before treatment can help. Most clinics will have a cooling system (cryogen/cool air) to use during treatment which should ease any discomfort. You can even use an anaesthetic cream if it's too much.

I hope th

I have been having IPL treatment and it is far better than laser, and it also does not hurt nearly so much. Would highly recommend it. I go to Pamperurself in Catalkoy, see above..

Hi Stellasstar1 -

Would you mind giving some idea of the cost of the IPL. Do they (Pamperyourself) also have equipment for thread/spider veins (legs).

Thanks - Jackie

Laser hair removal is more popular than any types of removal methods like electrolysis, waxing, etc. but, it will give the different results for different skin types and hair color. so if you want to try this technique, first you will try trial session. because it will give the particular result to your skin.

Laser hair removal technique is more safe and painless than others techniques. For permanent result, it will take 5-8 sessions and more beneficial for light skin and dark hair.
