Could anyone advise me when they think the exchange rate will improve, as i have some sterling that i need to convert to TL.

Was quoted 2.38 this morning, whic is dismal compared to what a friend got last year (2.65 as i recall).

Any ideas ?

Suzie 2.38 is pretty good at the moment! and probably the highest its been nearly all week!

The rate has been up and down lately, it depends how desperate you are to change your money. You could wait and then find it goes down, or indeed up!

Sorry not much help but I think the days of 2.65 are long gone!!

Wish we had a crystal ball on that one.

In the last 6 months the rate has been between 2.10 and 2.75 (approx) and is varying daily as much as 0.10tl

It will depend on why you need the money. I changed some other day just to get it from poor UK interest to invest here. Obviously lost in short term fluctuations but having done the maths would still be in good credit state for a considerable time.

If needing to pay for something you just got to change and not worry about what happens to the rate afterwards thinking "if only"!

Suggest putting it into Sterling account and transferring just what you need for now and watching the rate daily. Streling is undervalued at the moment according to some of the guys who know so I would think 2.45-2.48 may be not far away. No guarantees, some city suits tell porkies !

Turkey reduced base rate to 13.00%,so the TRNC banks may follow suit. YTL on the up on the wholesale markets now.2.39 at the last look.

Mike message 6 - ah - the good old days, I remember them well. Remember when you could change up £50 and it would last 2 of you about 4 days?
