Can anyone please explain this to me.



Is it true that you need a UK address with a landline?



I only have a mobile number in the TRNC and don't have an address or landline in the UK.



Does that mean I can't sign up to Vonage? I'm not very technical and apologies if I am being stupid!

Vonage does require a UK address and supposedly a UK Credit card to sign up on line.. You can buy the adaptor in Curry's etc.



I bought my first one online and had it sent to a family member.



NO UK phone line needed



What you DO need is a "fastish" Broadband connection - as it is plugged into your internet connection.



The upload speed of your connection is particularly important. if it is too slow - say less than 160k ( I know that's techie speak - but it is important) your voice will break up to the party you connect with.



I ADORE vonage and use it for phone / and have a fax no. I take my little vonage adaptor with me and plug in where ever I am.. When I'm not connected.. my calls go through to voice mail or ring my mob or simultaneoulsy ring multiple nos.in many places



It 's worked for me in Russia, UK, Cyprus ( south) and I've recommended it to folk in the South American countries - works great for them, too.

free of charge .. but you'd need to ask locals if 3G ( cellular fast internet) is available in your area in Cyprus..and what throughput you'll get.

I'm in Lapta and I believe 3G works in our area. Thanks for your offer - re 3 months free!



I'll come back to you when I know what throughput I will get.



How much is the adaptor by the way and any idea how I can get one coz I'm not going to the UK for a while. I have an existing skype number - can I use the same number or not (is that another stoopid question? Sorry if it is!) I'm a big ignorant when it comes to these things. Need hand holding through the whole thing!
