hello board im thinking of buying a 1990 vitarar 1600cc the road tax on it ended last april am i right in thinking the tax will have to be paid backdated also anything else i should take into account when buying private many thanks

Yes you will have to pay the back dated tax. Not sure about anything else as my husband deals with it!!

Yes you have to pay the backdated tax, plus a mitigating penalty, which can be heavy

Obviously before you can tax the car it will need a valid MOT and emissions test, so check them or you will have added expense

before you buy, i'd go to the tax office with the seller and find out what the fines are - if you don't and you buy, you won't know what you are letting yourself in for....

yes you will get a fine

also is the mot up to date as that also means another fine.?

along with any speeding fines or parking offences.



hubby found this out as he didn't know his car even needed a mot.

new cars in the uk don't need on for 3 years. here they do!

lesson learnt.

hi pupaden just taxed my susuki vitarra last week and it went up from 410ytl to 774 ytl for the year (at least dick turpin wore a mask when he robbed you)
