| hello board im thinking of buying a 1990 vitarar 1600cc the road tax on it ended last april am i right in thinking the tax will have to be paid backdated also anything else i should take into account when buying private many thanks |

| Yes you will have to pay the back dated tax. Not sure about anything else as my husband deals with it!! |

| Yes you have to pay the backdated tax, plus a mitigating penalty, which can be heavy |

| Obviously before you can tax the car it will need a valid MOT and emissions test, so check them or you will have added expense |

| yes you will get a fine also is the mot up to date as that also means another fine.? along with any speeding fines or parking offences. hubby found this out as he didn't know his car even needed a mot. new cars in the uk don't need on for 3 years. here they do! lesson learnt. |
