Hi My builder informs me that villa is finally finished, so I'm coming out to inspect it. Whilst there I plan the first thing to do is get electric meter installed. what I need to know is exactly what documents etc will be required so hopefully I can sort it out in one hit. Or is that a joke? Ray

Where I work, each property owner has just applied to Kibtec for their own meter. You need to show Kibtek your stamped contract showing your stamp duty has been paid and copies of the passport for whoevers name the property is in. They also collect a deposit from you of 840 TL (was last week anyway) to connect the power supply, and whatever the cost the actual electric meter is itself (ours were £99.50)! Be prepared to wait a while as when you go, you collect a ticket then finally go to the desk, the upstairs then back down etc. Good luck!

Take your passport & a copy along with your contract to the electricity office in Girne. Queue for ages, he will then tell you it will be done ASAP & if your lucky in about 2 weeks they come & fit your meter. Or as I later found out, leave it a day then go to the Kibtec yard where they dish out the jobs for the day, be very polite to the foreman & they come & fit it the next day. The Kibtec yard is near the roundabout with the fountains, coming from Lapta direction, turn right at roundabout then first left you cannot miss their yard. P
