First ice-skating facilities in North Cyprus opens
And, some good news for those who love ice-skating! The first ice-skating rink in North Cyprus, "Ice Land" was opened in Lefkosa with a special ceremony last night. The facility was inaugurated by the Mayor of Lefkosa- Cemal Bulutoglulari.
The ice-skating rink in the Industrial Area – will be moved to the fair grounds in Lefkosa once the necessary infrastructure is completed there.
In an address at the ceremony, the owner of the HABATEK company, which created the facility, Hakan Buyukkoroglu said his dream came true with the opening of the ice-skating rink.
He said the ice-skating rink will be in service in the industrial area for a short time before being moved to the fair grounds in Lefkosa after the completion of the necessary infrastructure.
Mr Buyukkoroglu – who is an amateur skater, explained that the ice-skating rink was built to create an alternative sports for the children between the ages of 5 and 15.
For his part, the Mayor of Lefkosa Cemal Bulutoglulari pointed out that the ice-skating rink was the first of its kind in the country and said that the aim was to promote ice-skating in the TRNC.
Meanwhile, a group of children from Turkey, who obtained degrees in ice-skating, are going to stage a performance at 7 this evening at the facility.
The alcohol and smoke free Ice Land will be open to public between 10 am and 10 pm.
