President Mehmet Ali Talat has had a meeting with the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in the Swiss capital Geneva, to discuss the latest developments on the Cyprus issue.
The meeting lasted for about 45 minutes, and it is understood the UN Secretary General has briefed the President of the Republic on his ideas about the possible resumption – in this coming spring - of the negotiations for a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem.
The two men met at 11:45 North Cyprus Time at the Geneva headquarters of the United Nations to discuss, among other things, the latest developments affecting the Cyprus issue, and, in particular, the details of the letter sent to the two sides in Cyprus by the Secretary General’s Undersecretary for Political Affairs – Ibrahim Gambari.
President Mehmet Ali Talat is expected to arrive in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus later this evening after a stop-over in Istanbul - during which - he is expected to hold a press conference.
