TRNC Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer pledged never to lose sight of the goal of finding peace in Cyprus, at a meeting with Turkish Cypriot Londoners this week.

His comments came during a series of events to mark the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the TRNC.Speaking at a public meeting at the Turkish Cypriot Community Association on Thursday, Mr Soyer claimed his aim is to make Cyprus an example of regional and global peace to the rest of the world.

He said: "We will not stop working to find a solution and to secure equal rights with Greek Cypriots. We will not bow to the south’s attempts to dominate the island. But our heart’s will not be without love, and our sweat will continue to soak the soil of Cyprus."

Mr Soyer called on the community to remind the world of the abuse of Turkish Cypriots. He said: "We are a people living under embargoes. We are unable to trade with the outside world, unable to communicate directly with the outside world and unable to travel directly to the outside world. This offence must be wiped from Cyprus."

The Prime Minister’s engagements in London also included a meeting with the UK Minister for Europe, Geoff Hoon, an official anniversary reception at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, a meeting with businessmen from the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce and a Republican Turkish Party ball at Papageno Restaurant.

The Prime Minister was in London with Home Secretary Özkan Murat, Undersecretary Doğan Şahali and Permanent Private Secretary Erkut Şahali.
