Asphalting began on Kyrenia by-pass road
Asphalting has begun on the new Kyrenia by-pass road. According to the builders the first section will be opened by April 2007. This "mini bypass" will be between northern Kyrenia and Karaoglanoglu. This will be a great relief to the traffic congestion in Kyrenia.
The work on Kyrenia by-pass had begun in March 2006 and is expected to take almost two years to complete.
The road will start from a flyover on the main Nicosia – Kyrenia road above the Nurettin Ersin Paşa Mosque and will follow the route south of Karaoğlanoğlu and Zeytinlik and to the north of Edremit emerging at the main Alsancak junction on the Kyrenia – Lapta road.
The 11.4 km carriageway is funded by Ankara.
