New Teknecik Powerplant components delivered
The government had promised to solve the electricity problems throughout 2007 and the first "visibe" step towards this was made.
The electricity main production unit and a generator arrived to Famagusta port in North Cyprus on 29 December 2006. Yesterday, the main unit weighing over 250 tons and the generator weighing 75 tons were transported from Famagusta port to the Teknecik Powerplant through the main Lefkosa-Girne main road.
It was observed that the police escorted the transportation trucks at all times and at certain points, the traffic was halted as the trucks needed to use both lanes of the road.
The moving of the new power plant units from Famagusta Port to the Teknecik Powerplant will be completed in the next 2 weeks.
Mehmet Salih Gurkan from Kib-Tek said that they hope to begin the tests in March 2007.
