A Greek Cypriot court has rejected a case filed by a Turkish Cypriot man who demanded compensation and the return of his immovable property left in South Cyprus in the past.
Ali Karamanoglu was demanding compensation for the part of his property that has been expropriated by the Greek Cypriot Administration; and the reinstatement of the remaining of his property.
Ali Karamanoglu’s lawyer told the B.R.T. that the court’s decision was announced in Greek, and that he’d rather comment - in detail - after the text has been translated into Turkish.
But nevertheless, he said, the court’s decision is a negative development.
There’s widespread speculation that the Greek Cypriot Administration has failed to deposit - in the specially created fund - an amount reaching five-hundred-million Cyprus Pounds, which should normally be deposited for the compensation of Turkish Cypriot immovable property in South Cyprus.
